Tottenham’s Harry Kane to smash Alan Shearers record against Southampton in Gameweek 20?
In our Gameweek 19 Captains Poll article, it was Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling who dominated the vote, as 37% of you opted for him as your captain against Bournemouth.
Sterling was kind enough to reward those who put their faith in him with 1 goal, 1 assist and 2 bonus; returning 13 points in total.
Surprisingly, only 12% of those who voted on our poll went with Tottenham’s Harry Kane as their Gameweek 19, but boy did he honour you with some magnificent returns – 3 goals, 3 bonus and a whopping 34 points total as captain!
Elsewhere, Man City’s Sergio Aguero landed the spoils for those of you opting for the ultimate premium differential, as the City striker bagged 2 goals, 1 assist and 3 tasty bonus points.
With some monster scores of 90+ being scored in Gameweek 19, if the fixture schedule for Gameweek 20 is anything to go by, we could be in for another treat over Christmas.
A free-scoring Manchester City travel to the North East to face a struggling Newcastle side, but which of Pep’s star assets would you favour for the armband?
Elsewhere, Manchester United will welcome a Burnley side to Old Trafford which just conceded a hat-trick to Harry Kane in Gameweek 19 – is Lukaku a viable option for those of you looking to land a captaincy gamble this week?
Klopp will march his Reds down to South Wales for an away trip to Swansea – a team that has conceded 8 goals in their last 4 Premier League outings look unlikely to prevent Liverpool from putting the ball in their net, but which of the magnificent 4 will bag the most points?
And finally – he’s the talk of the Fantasy Premier League community – he’s the saving grace for some FPL bosses in Gameweek 19, having bagged a superb hat-trick against Burnley – it’s Sir Harold Kane.
Kane needs just 1 goal against Southampton on Saturday afternoon to beat Alan Shearers 36-goals in one calendar year record, having equalled it in style against Burnley at the weekend.
It’s worth noting that the bookies have Kane as the 12/5 favourite to score first and 4/6 anytime scorer – with plenty of free bets available out there, it might be worth throwing a pound or two on Kane to score against the Saints.
Kane is likely to top the captaincy charts across all sites and twitter polls this week, but don’t be afraid to look elsewhere – as recent weeks have proved, no player, whether premium or not, is guaranteed returns based on a ‘easy’ fixture match-up.
Whatever your thoughts, plans or questions might be, please cast your captaincy pick to the poll below and reach out to me on Twitter via @FFPundits_Drew ahead of Tuesday’s 11:30pm deadline.
