Avoid Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City rotation for Gameweek 13 and opt for safer captaincy picks says @FFPundits_Drew
Earlier in the week, Pep Guardiola openly admitted in a press conference that when both Aguero and Jesus are fit, he doesn’t know who will start.
He also confirmed that whilst Mendy is injured, Sane will occupy the left-hand side of Manchester City’s attack, resulting in Pep being unable to accommodate both the Brazilian and the Argentine up top together right now.
SELL – SELL – SELL!
We’re once again avoiding all Manchester City options in this weeks Captains Picks and Tips article due to the rotation and uncertainty as mentioned above, however, 7% have said they’ll captain Aguero this week via our Gameweek 13 Captains Poll.
With favourable fixtures in Gameweek 13 standing out like a sore thumb, it’s hard to swerve the obvious picks this week due to their high ownership and likeliness to delivering healthy returns.
Whoever you decide to captain for Gameweek 13, I wish you all the very best of luck and as always, may your arrows be green and prosperous.
Harry Kane vs. West Brom (H)
Is your patience wearing a little thin with the £12.8m striker?
Are you giving him one more game to pull his socks up and deliver a heavy double-digit points haul in Gameweek 13?
Well, for the 37.9% of you who still own the Spurs front-man going in to the weekend, he has a mouth-watering fixture in Gameweek 13 (on paper) which shouldn’t be ignored.
Fresh off the back of a 4-0 defeat to Chelsea, manager-less West Brom are in need of someone who can help them get back to basics – Tony Pulis, for example?
Normally, I would advise caution when playing a team off the back of a managerial change, but I don’t see where West Brom can go with this one and fully expect Pochettino & Co. to go full throttle on The Baggies.
After losing 4 games on the run and without a win since August, it’s time for Harry to transform incredible shooting stats back into goals and pour salt in to West Brom’s open, deep wounds.
Harry, enough is enough; we need goals; we expect goals – this is the moment to get your season back on track and justify your hefty FPL price tag, with fantasy bosses unlikely to remain faithful if he blanks again.
Paul Pogba vs. Brighton (H)
After Manchester United’s explosive start to the season, performances began to dip, followed by dropping points.
The reason? A distinct lack of Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman is the key to that Manchester United team – without him, there’s a gaping hole which unfortunately, Marouane Fellaini is unable to fill.
Well, Pogba is back! Marking his return with a goal, an assist and maximum bonus points in United’s Gameweek 12 4-1 victory against Newcastle on Saturday.
Over 250k of you have already moved to bring the £8.0m man in to your FPL squads for Gameweek 13; a number I expect to rapidly rise before the 7pm Friday (yes Friday!) deadline.
It’s also worth noting that his transfers IN will NOT effect his price as it’s locked for 1 week, so don’t rush to get him in before Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Basel.
Brighton and Hove Albion now sit 9th in the Premier League – a position I feel has been elevated due to a favourable fixture run, but can they capture points against the bigger clubs?
I think Manchester United will be too much for them to handle this weekend and fancy 3+ goals from the Red Devil’s with Pogba pulling the strings.
Alvaro Morata vs. Liverpool (H)
In my opinion, the fixture of the weekend is Liverpool vs. Chelsea, which also boasts some big FPL players, with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata set to face-off against each other.
Well, the decision here comes down to who do you expect to win? Sorry Liverpool fans, but for me it’s Chelsea and key to that victory will be the former Real Madrid forward.
The the link-up play between Morata and Hazard will be too much for that fragile Liverpool defence, even though they’ve managed 3 clean-sheets in their last 6 Premier League outings.
Morata has been involved in 12 goals during his 11 Premier League appearances (8 goals and 4 assists) this season and has also picked up 11 bonus points along the way; impressive returns so far which I expect Morata to improve on this weekend.
Callum Wilson vs. Swansea (A)
Now, we’re not one for jumping on a player simply because he had a great Gameweek – however, this week, it’s tough to avoid Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson, as upcoming fixtures against Swansea, Burnley, Southampton and Crystal Palace make him a massive, differential prospect.
Everyone loves their FPL player scoring a hat-trick, but a £5.9m differential (now risen to £6.0m) scoring a hat-trick is an absolute dream for Fantasy Premier managers, with 3 bonus points almost guaranteed to add icing to the cake.
The question on many of our minds and social media channels right now is, can he do it again? Well, if that’s going to happen, then where better else to do it then at Swansea?
Things aren’t looking good for the Swans of late; still second from bottom of the Premier League table and have conceded at least 2 goals in 4 of their last 7 Premier League fixtures.
Owned by only 1.8% of Fantasy Premier League bosses at the time of publishing, Wilson could be the perfect enabler you’ve been searching for, freeing up valuable funds to spend on Hazard and Morata.
