Daily fantasy picks from Liverpool, Chelsea and Everton look set to score well in Gameweek 21
With several favourable Premier League match-ups on offer this Saturday, it’s hard to avoid the premium players from the big clubs -however, I’ve added in a few cheeky differentials for those of you looking to go against the grain in Gameweek 21.
As always, my weekly selections are suitable for all fantasy football game formats and will work well with most scoring systems, whether you’re playing Fantasy Premier League, Sky Fantasy or daily fantasy games with us over on Starting 11.
To get involved and play against the Fantasy Football Pundits staff this week and myself, @FFPundits_Drew, create your lineups for Gameweek 21 today via the FREE Apple or Android apps, or, by clicking the banner below.
Safe Pick – Firmino vs. Leicester (H)
It’s Mo Salah who has stolen the headlines for Liverpool this season, but of late it’s the form of Roberto Firmino that has made things click into place for Jurgen Klopp’s attacking football.
From that false 9 position, Firmino has scored 4 goals in his last 3 games, as well as chipping in with 2 assists.
This week’s opponent Leicester City are without a win in their last 3 games and have conceded 7 goals during that period – which for me, is enough to warrant the Brazilian a place in my starting 11 and FPL lineup this week.
Differential – Vardy vs. Liverpool (A)
Leicester City may still be searching for a win, but what they are doing is finding the back of the net – scoring 4 goals in their last 3 games, despite only taking 1 point during that period.
Liverpool have developed a reputation for clinching a draw from the jaws of victory and with the signing of Virgil van Dijk confirmed for January, can Leicester take advantage in their final game of 2017?
Vardy loves a goal against Liverpool and has scored in 3 of their last 5 Premier League meetings – but can he make it 4 in 6 come 5pm Saturday afternoon?
Safe Pick – Hazard vs. Stoke (H)
I’ll be honest – Hazard is fast becoming a frustrating player to own over on Fantasy Premier League. After providing a couple of great returns, the goals have dried up over the last 5 weeks, so why is he a ‘safe’ pick?
Well, this week, the Belgian has a chance to repay the faith shown in a home tie vs. Stoke City – a team who have conceded 11 goals in their last 5 games and with Kurt Zouma ineligible and Ryan Shawcross a doubt, find their defence weakened further.
My gut says this is the week Hazard explodes again, with his partnership with Alvaro Morata ready to blossom – last chance Eden!
Differential – Sigurdsson vs. Bournemouth (A)
The fixtures have come think and fast but Everton remain undefeated during December and look like a new outfit under Allardyce’s stewardship.
This weekend, that run should continue in style as The Toffees travel South to Bournemouth – a side that haven’t won a game in 8 Premier League games.
When Everton score, Siggy is likely to be involved and I expect Everton to score plenty this weekend, with Wayne Rooney likely to return to the starting 11.
Safe Pick – Alonso vs. Stoke (H)
Alonso has been a regular in this article throughout the season, boasting impressive shooting stats that we would expect from an attacking midfield player.
Well, for those that stuck with him on FPL, the goals have returned – scoring 2 in his last 3 games as well as 3 clean-sheets for good measure, he remains a reliable daily fantasy pick on starting 11 also.
Stoke’s defence is in the middle of a crisis and are there for the taking in Gameweek 21 – no Shawcross, Zouma, Peiters or Johnson; but how many will Chelsea score?
Differential – Kenny vs Bournemouth (A)
With 5 clean-sheets in his last 7 games, Everton’s defensive assets are becoming popular differentials across all fantasy formats, but especially on FPL and starting 11.
As mentioned earlier, Bournemouth are struggling and those 8 league games without a win have left the Cherries in the relegation zone.
The solid foundations built by Sam Allardyce are working and I expect another Everton clean-sheet on Saturday, with the chance of attacking returns from the wing-back.
Safe Pick – Courtois vs. Stoke (H)
My defensive stack this week will be a sea of blue as I double up at the back with Chelsea, adding Courtois to Alonso and capitalise on those likely clean-sheet points.
Stoke are going to be run ragged this weekend and whilst trying to contain Hazard and Morata with their patchwork defence, they won’t have many opportunities to think about scoring at the other end of the pitch.
Load up on Chelsea this week with confidence against Stoke City and reap the rewards fantasy bosses.
Differential – Pope vs. Huddersfield (A)
Having put two difficult fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United behind them, Burnley can move on and return to a favourable fixture away to Huddersfield in Week 21.
Those FPL and starting 11 managers who have enjoyed their Burnley clean sheet points this season will be looking to their beloved Nick Pope returning to their lineup’s once again.
Only Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United have conceded less than Burnley this season, so play Pope is looking for a less-premium option for Gameweek 21.
Eden Hazard vs. Stoke (H)
I plan to take full advantage of the mess Stoke are in this week, with the Mark Hughes likely to promote a youngster or two to paper over the defensive cracks.
Hazard has been in great form despite only providing 1 assist during his last 5 games – sadly, for FPL and starting 11 bosses, that form hasn’t transferred into fantasy points, but I feel that will change in Gameweek 21.
He takes the armband for me this week as he and Morata look set to run riot at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
Pick your ULTIMATE 11-man team from this Saturday’s SEVEN Premier League fixtures without ANY player values or team budgets to contend with.
