Picks from Liverpool, Manchester United and West Brom look set to score well in Gameweek 4
Starting 11 is the premier *live* daily fantasy football app, which allows users to make changes to their fantasy lineups in real-time – just like a real-life football manager.
Players can make three live substitutions per lineup with no salary cap.
Starting 11 is currently offering free Premier League contests worldwide and will add cash prize contests in the U.K. and U.S. in the coming months.
Gameweek 4 features a slew of tight match-ups including Manchester City hosting Liverpool, Spurs heading north to take on Everton, and an early relegation battle between Arsenal and Bournemouth (sorry, the joke was too easy).
That means the Starting 11 players who are able to best read these tight contests and take advantage of substitutions appropriately will be the ones with the glory at the end of the weekend.
Safe Pick – Firmino
The Liverpool forward has scored in two of his first three matches this season, grabbing two assists along the way.
The forward has had a total of 8 shots on goal, with 4 coming from inside the area and looks a constant threat on the counter-attack.
Manchester City’s defence doesn’t seem to working well at present, conceding against Bournemouth (a) and Everton (h) in Gameweek’s 2 and 3.
Liverpool have scored 8 goals in their opening 3 Premier League fixtures against Watford, Crystal Palace and Arsenal, so cannot see them blanking at Brighton this weekend.
Differential – Jay Rodriguez
Once a hot prospect for England, Jay Rodriguez has found himself sidelined by injury for most of the past three seasons.
West Brom and Tony Pulis provided him a fresh start and he got off the mark last time out with a goal against Stoke City in Gameweek 3.
He’ll take on newly promoted Brighton on Saturday at the Amex Stadium on the south coast, where Chris Hughton’s men will look to secure their second clean sheet in as many games.
So far this season, JRod has had 8 shots at goals, with 4 of those on target and 3 attempted assists – the goals are coming.
Safe Pick – Henrikh Mkhitaryan
With five assists in three matches already this season, United travel to a Stoke squad with only one decent attacking threat (Jesé), Mkhitaryan looks set to rack-up the points again.
With Romelu Lukaku finishing clinically up front, Henrikh is on pace for a breakout EPL season.
His stats from the first 3 gameweeks are enough to encourage any fantasy boss to have him in their teams this weekend, scoring points from 14 attempted assists (5 successful assists), 7 shots at goal and 8 crosses.
Differential – Davy Pröpper
Pröpper scored twice for the Netherlands in their crucial 3-1 win over Bulgaria during the international break.
He’s yet to get off the mark for Chris Hughton’s Brighton, but when you have the freedom to pick a new lineup every week in Starting 11, it’s wise to make picks based on very recent form.
His stats aren’t amazing, but if you’re looking for a shrewd move for Gameweek 4, Davy could return some differential points for those who take a punt on him.
Safe Pick – Ahmed Hegazi
West Brom’s defence have allowed only a single goal past Ben Foster in three games, while Brighton have yet to score.
Having West Brom defensive coverage in your lineup would be wise as Tony Pulis continues to stifle opposing squads yet doesn’t manage to do much at the other end either.
With two clean-sheets to his name, it’s also worth noting that the Egyptian has had 3 shots on goal, whilst scoring a headed winner at home to Bournemouth to Gameweek 1.
Dominant in the air, a threat going forward and from set-pieces, Hegazi looks a safe bet for points against Brighton in Gameweek 4.
Differential – Kiko Femenía
Watford are fresh off the back of two consecutive clean-sheets and face a Southampton side in Gameweek 4 that has failed to score in two of their three opening matches.
The converted winger could continue to be a threat going forward – already producing two attempted assists and 4 crosses this season.
With the odds of a clean-sheet looking favourable, attacking returns on Starting 11 could help boost his points total for those who put their faith in him,
Safe Pick – Ben Foster
Doubling up on West Brom at the back in Gameweek 4 could be a sound strategy as the Baggies’ keeper has allowed only a single goal past him so far.
Making only 3 saves in 3 gameweeks shows how tight and well-drilled Pulis has his defensive personnel this season.
Facing a Brighton side who’ve yet to score a single goal so far, the England international looks odds-on to collect his 3rd clean-sheet of the new Premier League season.
Differential – Jordan Pickford
If you want to risk a clean sheet for save points, Jordan Pickford could see plenty of action against Spurs in Gameweek 4 and is capable of pulling off a world-class afternoon.
Released from England duties earlier this week due to a muscle injury, Pickford has returned to Everton for treatment but is likely to feature this weekend.
He made 5 saves against both Manchester City and Chelsea in recent weeks, conceding only 3 goals in total – he’s a safe pair of hands and is likely to bag plenty of save points at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.
Captains earn double points for you in Starting 11 and can be the difference between picking a great squad and blowing away your competition.
For Gameweek 4, Henrikh Mkhitaryan looks a safe bet based on his opening stats and could rack-up the points if he scores his first foal of the season for Manchester United against Stoke on Saturday evening.
