Fantasy Premier League Tips – Captain Differentials for Gameweek 7

With fantasy football bosses siding with either Kane or Lukaku this week, is now the time to opt for a captaincy differential for Gameweek 7?
Greetings to all Fantasy Premier Leagues bosses – I hope you were all on the right end of a high-scoring Gameweek 6 and you had the right premium strikers in your team.
If you didn’t, maybe now’s the time to look for a differential captain pick to kick-start your season?
Alexandre Lacazette – Arsenal [£10.3m]
First up, ahead of a Gameweek 7’s meeting with Brighton is Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette.
The forward hit a brace in Gameweek 6 versus Tony Pulis’ West Brom – with the first being a real poachers goal and the second a top quality penalty.
He had chances to complete his hat-trick before being subbed off in the 82nd minute, but did score all 3 bonus points for his efforts.
It’s also worth noting that Lacazette took the penalty whilst Alexis Sanchez was on the field, which confirms he’s likely to stay on penalty-taking duties until further notice.
Scoring 4 goals in 3 home games so far this season, Lacazette looks primed for more returns against Chris Hughton’s Brighton on Saturday afternoon.
Owned by just 10.7% of FPL managers at the time of writing, Lacazette could be the next best captaincy option, for those looking to swerve popular picks like Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku
Philippe Coutinho – Liverpool [£8.9m]
My next pick is a player that was seen by many as ‘essential’ this time last season and yet is owned by only 5.7% of FPL managers.
Coutinho returned to the fold with a bang in Gameweek 6 versus Leicester City, scoring a goal, an assist and received all 3 bonus points – leaving fantasy bosses who owned him with a healthy 12-point return.
Countinho ran the show against Leicester last weekend and his cross for Salah’s goal was excellent – not to mention his free-kick being top drawer.
This week he faces a Newcastle side who’ve kept only two clean-sheets this season and are fresh off the back of a 1-0 away loss to Brighton in Gameweek 6.
Sure, Newcastle will defend and possibly park the bus as some might say – however, with the likes of Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino making things happen, I believe Coutinho is set for generous returns again in Gameweek 7.
Jay Rodriguez – West Brom [£5.8m]
My final captaincy differential this week is an outrageous one, but hear me out.
J-Rod looked decent in Gameweek 6 against Arsenal and was unlucky not to score – in-fact, he could have had a hat-trick! He hit the post, had a shot cleared and was denied a clear penalty.
This wee he has a nice fixture against Watford at home on Saturday afternoon – a team that shipped 7 goals in their last 2 Premier League outings. Admittedly, 6 of those came against Manchester City in Gameweek 6, but still, I feel they’re there for the taking this weekend.
Having scored only 4 goals this season, West Brom will need to step their game up and starting grinding out results, before their fixture schedule turns nasty in a months time.
I fancy West Brom to buck their ideas up and with a winnable game against Watford on offer this week, I expect J-Rod to kick his season off too.
I hope the above has given you plenty of food for thought and as always, I wish you the best of luck for Gameweek 7 – and feel free to talk FPL with me on Twitter – @FPL_physio – cheers all!
