Tammy Abraham – Swansea [£5.5m]
After tricky opening fixtures against Southampton and Manchester United, Swansea took full advantage of their trip to Crystal Palace in Gameweek 3, where they secured a 2-0 away win, with Tammy Abraham getting his first goal of the season.
Abraham is unable to boast the most convincing stats, having registered just 1 shot on target so far.
However, the Swansea forward has been impressive on the whole, during his opening 3 games and offers a huge saving on popular 3rd forward options such as Roberto Firmino or Alvaro Morata.
He’s taken 6 attempts on goal in total, with 5 coming from inside the area; more than any of his teammates on both fronts.
Last week saw the return of Wilfried Bony to Swansea, on a permanent transfer deal from Man City.
However, after a couple of fairly disappointing seasons with Man City and Stoke, since his last stint at the Welsh club, there’s no guarantee that Bony will go straight into the starting lineup.
In their current 3-5-2 formation, there is the potential to use both Abraham and Bony together.
Swansea have an incredible run of fixtures to come, where they’ll face home games against Newcastle, Watford, Huddersfield, Leicester and Brighton over the next 8 Gameweeks.
In Gameweek 4, they host a Newcastle side that are also on a high, after securing a 3-0 win over West Ham in their Gameweek 3 outing.
Their last away trip was a tight affair, with Rafa Benitez’s side suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield in the end.
Robbie Brady – Burnley [£5.5m]
Burnley have taken points from games against Chelsea and Spurs in their opening 3 games, with Robbie Brady providing the assist for their late equaliser at Wembley, in Gameweek 3.
The Republic of Ireland international produced 5 attempted assists against Spurs, only Xherdan Shaqiri managed more in Gameweek 3, with 7.
Only 3 players have produced more than Brady’s total of 10 attempted assists in the Premier League this season; Mesut Ozil (12), David Silva (12) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (14).
Priced at just £5.5m, Brady is cheap enough to take a punt on as your 4th midfielder, for Burnley’s kind run of home fixtures to come.
Having already shown promise in some tough opening fixtures, they’ll now take on: Crystal Palace, Huddersfield, West Ham and Newcastle, over the next 7 Gameweeks.
Crystal Palace have lost each of their opening 3 fixtures, having conceded 6 goals without reply; only Arsenal (8) and West Ham (10) have conceded more goals.
Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez – West Ham [£7.1m]
The former Manchester United striker opened his account for the season, with a brace against Southampton in Gameweek 2 and saw an effort cleared off the line against Newcastle last Gameweek.
Chicharito has produced a tally of 7 attempts on goal, with 5 coming from inside the area and 4 finding the target.
Only 5 players have managed more efforts on target so far, with Romelu Lukaku, Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah amongst those names.
It’s been a poor start to the season for West Ham, who have suffered defeats in all 3 games so far but they’ll face their first home game of the season in Gameweek 4, where they’ll host Huddersfield.
The newly promoted side have been in good form themselves, having secured clean sheets in all 3 of their opening games.
However, their opponents so far have failed to offer much of a test, with Crystal Palace and Southampton both struggling for goals.
West Ham will be in front of their home fans for the first time this season and will be looking to find their first win.
Ryan Bertrand – Southampton [£5.5m]
With 2 clean sheets from their opening 3 fixtures, in goalless draws with Swansea and Huddersfield, Southampton defensive assets are still firmly on our radar.
Only 3 teams have conceded fewer goals than Southampton and only Manchester United and Huddersfield have kept more clean sheets.
With home fixtures against Watford, Newcastle, West Brom and Burnley to come over the next 8 Gameweeks, as well as trips to Crystal Palace, Stoke and Brighton, that trend looks set to continue.
Saints have a number of options now in the centre of defence, with Virgil van Dijk remaining at the club, in addition to their new signing, Wesley Hoedt.
These two players could impact the game-time of Jack Stephens and Maya Yoshida in the coming weeks. However, the full-backs, Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand should both be assured of starts.
If you have the cash to spend, Bertrand does look worth the extra £0.5m, given his superior attacking numbers.
The left-back has produced 4 attempted assists this season and has taken 7 corners; only James Ward-Prowse has taken more amongst teammates (10) but he’s no longer featuring in the starting lineup.
In Gameweek 4, Southampton host a Watford side that were held to a goalless draw by Brighton last Gameweek.
