Premium key picks from Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are must-have players for FPL Double Gameweek 37
As the Fantasy Premier League finale is just around the corner, FPL bosses are left one with juicy hurdle to contend with, and it comes in the shape of DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 37!
Yes folks, the time has come – the biggest Double Gameweek of the season is only a few days away, but with one midweek fixture still to play out (Southampton vs Arsenal), the majority of FPL bosses seem cautious in their approach until tonight’s game is over and done with.
With many FPL bosses activating their Bench Boost Chip, loading up on players who play twice looks to be the most popular strategy and topic of discussion our Twitter feed this week.
However, with so many teams playing twice, which key players will you draft in to your squads and which will you dismiss?
As always, we invite you to read the article and then check out the YouTube video below for all the stats and glossy graphics which help support this weeks four picks – and be sure to subscribe to the FPLTips’ YouTube channel for weekly Fantasy Premier League tips, news and insight.
Kevin de Bruyne – Man City (LEI/WBA)
- Leicester (H) & West Brom (H)
The Belgium international went under the radar last Gameweek but outshone popular options, Leroy Sané and Gabriel Jesus, with 1 goal and 2 assists during Man City’s 5-0 win over Crystal Palace.
The creative midfielder has now provided 5 assists in his last 6 games, which is more than any other player in the Premier League. De Bruyne’s 21 attempted assists, during the same period, can only be beaten by Christian Eriksen (22).
Despite scoring just 1 goal during the last 6 games, the Man City midfielder has taken 13 attempts on goal, with 3 finding the target and 2 striking the woodwork.
In Double Gameweek 37, Man City first host a Leicester side that have climbed into the top half of the table, following wins against Watford and West Brom. They have, however, conceded 7 goals in their last 4 away games.
Following that, it’s a second home game, against West Brom. Their 2-2 draw with Burnley last Gameweek ended a run of 4 straight defeats but they’ve failed to win any of their last 6 games, conceding 7 goals over that period.
Diego Costa – Chelsea (wba/WAT)
- West Brom (A) & Watford (H)
The Chelsea forward opened the scoring for his team’s 3-0 win over Middlesbrough last Gameweek, to score his 20th league goal of the season. He’s now just 1 goal behind Harry Kane and 4 goals behind Romelu Lukaku, in the race for the Golden Boot.
There hasn’t been much between Diego Costa and teammate, Eden Hazard, during the last 6 games; both players have taken 5 shots on target and Costa has been directly involved in 6 goals, while Hazard has been directly involved in 5.
However, a gap in returns has emerged more recently. The Chelsea forward has been directly involved in 4 goals during the last 4 games, while producing 4 shots on target. In comparison, Eden Hazard has produced just 1 goal and 1 assist in his last 4 games, finding the target with just 1 of his shots during that period.
Chelsea have scored 15 goals during their last 6 games, which is more than any other team in the Premier League.
In Double Gameweek 37, they’ll first take on a West Brom side that have failed to win any of their last 6 games, conceding 7 goals over that period.
Following that, it’s a home game against Watford for Conte’s team. Since hitting 40 points, Watford have failed to win any of their 3 games, losing to Hull, Liverpool and Leicester and conceding 6 goals in the process. Watford have conceded a total of 10 goals during the last 6 games; only Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth (11) have conceded more.
Vincent Kompany – Man City (LEI/WBA)
- Leicester (H) & West Brom (H)
The Man City captain led his team to the 5-0 win over Crystal Palace last Gameweek, providing 1 of the goals himself. He’s now started each of Man City’s last 4 games, following a return from injury in Gameweek 31.
During the last 5 games, Kompany has found the back of the net twice, from a total of 6 goal attempts, while also helping his team keep 2 clean sheets.
Man City have conceded just 5 goals during their last 6 games; only Man Utd (3) and Spurs (2) have conceded fewer goals.
In Double Gameweek 37, Man City take part in back-to-back home games. They’ll first host a Leicester side that have scored 6 goals during their last 4 games but have produced just 11 shots on target during that period; only Southampton have managed fewer.
Following that, City host a West Brom side that have failed to win any of their last 6 games, scoring just 2 goals over that period, which is fewer than every other team in the Premier League.
Petr Cech – Arsenal (stk/SUN)
- Stoke (A), Sunderland (H)
The Arsenal goalkeeper was key to his team’s 2-0 win over Man Utd in Gameweek 36, producing 4 saves to keep hold of his clean sheet, while also earning himself a bonus point in the process.
He’s now made an average of 4.5 saves per game, during the last 6 games, despite being withdrawn after just 37 minutes back in Gameweek 29, due to an injury.
Arsenal have conceded just 6 goals during their last 6 games, while keeping 3 clean sheets in the process, and have looked much stronger defensively, since moving to a 3-4-2-1 formation. In Double Gameweek 37, Arsenal will first face a Stoke side that have won just 1 of their last 6 games, scoring just 6 goals in the process.
Only 6 teams have scored fewer goals over that period. It’s a home fixture against Sunderland for Arsenal’s second fixture in Gameweek 37. Despite a win over Hull last Gameweek, Sunderland remain bottom of the league table and are certain to be relegated.
They’ve scored just 4 goals during their last 6 games; only Watford (3) and West Brom (2) have managed fewer.
