Philippe Coutinho – Liverpool (MID)
- Middlesbrough (H)
Liverpool’s Brazilian magician thrived in a deeper role against West Ham, leading his team to a 4-0 win, with his 2 goals and 1 assist.
The 8 shots on target managed by Coutinho, during the last 6 games, is level with Gylfi Sigurdsson and Heung-Min Son; no midfielder has managed more, during the same timeframe.
Similarly, no player has managed more than the 4 goals scored by the Liverpool midfielder, during the last 6 Gameweeks.
As we approach the last game of the season, Liverpool, unlike most other teams in the league, still have something to play for; a win would secure them a top 4 place. So we can expect Klopp to field his strongest side and take the game very seriously.
They’ll be hosting a Championship-bound Middlesbrough side that have managed just 1 win from their last 6 games. They’ve conceded a total of 13 goals over that period, which is more than any other team in the league, during the same time-frame.
Jamie Vardy – Leicester (BOU)
- Spurs (H)
The Leicester City forward has been directly involved in 5 goals during his last 6 Premier League games, scoring twice himself and also providing 3 assists.
In the last 6 Gameweeks, Vardy has taken a total of 8 shots, with 7 coming from inside the area and 6 finding the target. Only 5 forwards have managed more shots on target during this period: Kane (14), Benteke (11), Vokes (9), Rooney (7) and Lukaku (7).
Despite having little to play for at this stage in the season, Leicester have racked up an impressive tally of 9 goals over their last 6 matches, which is on par with Liverpool and only 5 teams have scored more.
In the last game of the season, they’ll host a Bournemouth side that are equally safe and sit just 1 place above Leicester in the league table. Despite picking up good results in recent weeks and managing to score 10 goals during their last 6 games, Eddie Howe’s side have also conceded 10 goals over that period, so there could be goals at both ends of the pitch in this game.
Gylfi Sigurdsson – Swansea (WBA)
- West Brom (H)
Swansea’s set piece specialist provided his 13th FPL assist of the season, to see his side earn a 2-0 win over Sunderland in Gameweek 37.
The Iceland international has also provided 9 goals this season and needs just 1 more to record double figure returns for both goals and assists.
During his last 6 games, the 12 attempted assists managed by Sigurdsson puts him level with Philippe Coutinho for assist potential.
Meanwhile, no midfielder has managed more than Sigurdsson’s tally of 8 shots on target, during the last 6 Gameweeks, with both Philippe Coutinho and Heung-Min Son equalling the Swansea midfielder.
Swansea have escaped relegation with an undefeated run of 4 games, where they’ve picked up 3 wins and 1 draw. During that period, their 6 goals scored is level with Liverpool and more than Spurs (5) have managed. Only Arsenal, Bournemouth, Man City and Chelsea have scored more.
In Gameweek 38, they’ll host a West Brom side that have failed to win any of their last 7 Premier League games. They’ve conceded 5 goals over their last 4 games, only 6 teams have conceded more: Burnley (6), Hull (6), Middlesbrough (7), Crystal Palace (8), Stoke (8) and Watford (9).
Nathaniel Clyne – Liverpool (MID)
- Middlesbrough (H)
Whilst it is recommended to focus on the more attacking players for the last game of the season, due to the tendency for there to be a lot of goals scored, if you are in need of a defensive pick, the Liverpool right-back could be a good prospect.
The 4-0 win over West Ham last Gameweek saw Liverpool earn their 11th clean sheet of the season, and their 4th from their last 5 games, as they seek to secure their top 4 place in the league table.
During their last 5 games, Liverpool have conceded just 2 goals. That tally puts them level with Spurs and Swansea and no team have conceded fewer goals, during the same period.
Nathaniel Clyne has picked up 2 assists this season, but only Leighton Baines can match the Liverpool right-back’s 44 attempted assists, and no defender has produced more this season.
For the last game of the season, Liverpool will host an already relegated Middlesbrough side. They’ve scored just 4 goals during their last 4 games and have failed to score in 2 of the last 5.
