Once again, the 3 big names to consider for captaincy have to be SalahKane, Aguero – but who gets the nod?

My Little Nuts - Draft Fantasy Premier League Football

Week-in, week-out, many of us (including ourselves) have a weekly captaincy headache to contend with, as premium picks such as Kane, Salah and Aguero all seem worthy of carry your precious armband in to the upcoming Gameweek.

This week, the @_FPLTips team face the same dilemma and with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah looking the safest of the bunch, surely they’ll award him the armband for their Gameweek 27 clash with Southampton?

Goalkeeper

After Burnley’s impressive defending against league leaders Manchester City last Gameweek, Nick Pope comes back into the starting lineup, at the expense of West Ham’s Adrian.

Swansea have, however, hit some form over their last 4 games, accumulating 2 draws and 2 wins, while scoring 6 goals; 7 teams have scored more goals over that period.

Defenders

There’s just the one chance to the defence as well, which sees Ben Mee start ahead of Craig Dawson, as West Brom travel to Chelsea. Although, given the form of the Blues in the last couple of Gameweeks, that fixture might not be as bad as it looks.

Nicolas Otamendi keeps his place for Man City’s home fixture against Leicester, while Phil Jones could be in line to reclaim a starting place for Man Utd’s trip to Newcastle, if he manages to recover from illness.

Midfielders

There has also been one change to the midfield, which has seen Jesse Lingard make way for Theo Walcott.

Lingard has failed to provide a goal or assist in his last 4 consecutive matches and the competition for starting places in the team is heating up, with Pogba and Martial most recently dropped to the bench.

Walcott has contributed to 3 goals in 3 starts for Everton so far and now has a kind run of fixtures to come, which includes a guaranteed fixture in Gameweek 31, when many other teams will have their fixture postponed – so he should come in handy for those planning to navigate that Gameweek without using the Free Hit chip.

Alongside the former Arsenal man, Raheem Sterling and Xherdan Shaqiri have home encounters against Leicester and Brighton respectively, while the seemingly fixture proof Mohamed Salah is up against Southampton, a side he scored twice against in the reverse fixture.

Forwards

The front 3 remains unchanged, with big hitters Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane lining up alongside the budget friendly Callum Wilson.

Bournemouth have scored 8 goals in the last 4 Gameweeks; only Liverpool, Spurs (9), Man City (10) and Arsenal (11) have scored more in that time, so the forward still looks likely to tick over with the odd goal, if that kind of team performance is sustained.

Captaincy Thoughts

Once again, the 3 big names to consider for captaincy have to be Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero.

They’ve each score 4 times in the last 4 Gameweeks but Harry Kane has had more shots on target (13) and big chances (6) than either of the other two, during that period.

Sergio Aguero has been the most creative, producing 10 attempted assists in the last 4 Gameweeks, compared to Salah’s 6 and Kane’s 5.

Arsenal have actually had the worst defensive form from the three opponents, conceding 7 goals and 9 big chances over the last 4 Gameweeks but most of those came prior to their 5-1 win over Everton and in a north London derby, form often goes out of the window.

Man City have narrowly scored more goals than Liverpool or Spurs over this period (10 to 9), but Spurs have actually had by far the most big chances, with 14, compared to Liverpool’s 10 and Man City’s 8.

The safest captain choice is likely to be Mohamed Salah, due to his high ownership and incredible consistency and whilst he is capable of another haul away to Southampton, Sergio Aguero was unfortunate last time around and has the home advantage for Man City’s fixture against Leicester, so for now, the armband is staying with him for one last roll of the dice.
