Tom Heaton is closing in on a return for Burnley but Nick Pope’s impressive performances will give Sean Dyche a decision to make. With a home game against Southampton in Gameweek 28, we’re hoping Pope continues between the sticks.
Saints have found some goal scoring form of late, finding the back of the net 5 times over their last 4 league matches; but it’s still a more preferable fixture than our backup goalkeeper Adrian has; he’ll travel to Anfield to face Liverpool this week.
West Brom suffered a heavy defeat to Chelsea last Gameweek but Craig Dawson returns to the starting lineup for the home encounter with Huddersfield in Gameweek 28.
The Terriers have scored just once in their last 4 away games and their tally of 2 big chances over that period is fewer than every other team.
Phil Jones is set to miss Manchester United’s midweek clash with Sevilla with an unspecified injury, but if he’s available, he’ll be preferred to Nicolas Otamendi this week, although neither have ideal fixtures; United face Chelsea at home, while City travel to Arsenal.
Jose Mourinho’s side have kept 3 clean sheets from their last 4 home games in the league, so that’s the reasoning behind the decision.
It’s tempting to make a move for Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk this week, to avoid the need to field either Phil Jones or Nicolas Otamendi. He faces a kind run of fixtures and kept a clean sheet against Southampton in his last outing.
However, there is another potential move that will take priority in Gameweek 28, which we’ll come onto in a few moments, so the Liverpool defender may have to wait until next Gameweek.
The midfield remains unchanged but 3 of the 4 face away ties in Gameweek 28
Raheem Sterling’s away trip to Arsenal looks tough on paper but the Gunners have actually conceded more big chances (14) than any other team during the last 4 Gameweeks.
Everton have matched Liverpool’s 7 goals scored over the last 4 Gameweeks and only Cheslea (8), Arsenal (10) and Man City (12) have scored more, so we’re hoping Theo Walcott can make an impression during their trip to Watford.
He’s been directly involved in 3 goals during his 4 starts for Everton so far and his 5 efforts on target over the last 4 Gameweeks is on par with Mohamed Salah; only 5 midfielders have taken more.
One of those is Stoke’s Xherdan Shaqiri, who’s delivered an impressive tally of 7 shots on target in the last 4 Gameweeks; second only to Kevin De Bruyne amongst midfielders.
There is likely to be one change made to the front 3, as Sergio Aguero faces the chop, ahead of Man City’s trip to Arsenal.
The Man City forward has been in scintillating form; scoring 8 goals in his last 4 league games. However, each of those have come at home and only 6 of his 21 goals have come on the road this season.
The fixtures toughen up now for Man City, and Chelsea remains their only home fixture over this period, while the league leaders are without a fixture in Gameweek 31.
Bringing Roberto Firmino in as part of our Gameweek 31 preparation looks like a strong option this week. The Brazilian faces home encounters with West Ham, Newcastle and Watford over the next 4 Gameweeks.
Alongside the Liverpool forward will once again be Harry Kane. The Spurs man has scored 3 goals from 11 shots on target in his last 4 matches; only Sergio Aguero has fired more efforts on target over that period.
Callum Wilson completes the lineup ahead of Bournemouth’s home tie with Newcastle, who’ve shipped 6 goals in their last 4 away matches, while only 6 teams have conceded more big chances (10) over that period.
Once again, it’s a close call for captaincy and it’s Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah who’ll be the two main contenders.
The Spurs man edges it in terms of shots on target, over the last 4 Gameweeks, with 9 efforts compared to Salah’s 5. However, the pair have each managed 7 big chances over that period, while the Liverpool midfielder has been directly involved in more goals.
Crystal Palace appear to have had a slightly worse defensive record than West Ham over this period, conceding 9 times compared to the 5 goals conceded by the Hammers.
However, Palace have conceded just 4 times in their last 4 home matches, while West Ham have conceded 8 times in their last 4 away games.
It’s definitely not a straight forward choice but for now, Mohamed Salah just about edges it and with his high ownership, he’ll be the much safer option to go with.
