As Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero is still banned for one more game, teenage sensation Kelechi Iheanacho is this week’s Fantasy Premier League Punt of the Week for Gameweek 5.

Gameweek 4’s Punt Robert Snodgrass was one of very few high-scoring players in what was a relatively low scoring gameweek last time out.

The Hull City winger produced the goods to score a sublime 25 yard free kick in the dying seconds of the game at Turf Moor, earning FPL managers who took a punt on him and above average and respectable, 9 points.

In fact, 9 points was perhaps unfortunately low for Snoddy, who put in a great performance for Hull as he also set up two decent chances – one that hit the post whilst the other crashed against the crossbar.

Moving onto Gameweek 5, our punt this week is Manchester City teenage striker, Kelechi Iheanacho. The Nigerian striker has accumulated 15 FPL points so far this season, despite playing only 71 minutes for City so far in the Premier League.

Iheanacho scored what proved to be the decisive goal in the derby match last week at Old Trafford, scoring 10 FPL points. With Sergio Aguero again suspended for this weeks visit of Bournemouth, Iheanacho is likely to lead the City attack again. However, with a number of attacking threats at Pep Guardiola’s disposal, there is no guarantee he will start – especially with Kevin de Bruyne impressing in a more attacking role last week.

Iheanacho’s Premier League record is certainly impressive – he has hit the back of the net 9 times from just 13 shots on target in his short Premier League career so far and managed to score a goal every 81.3 minutes he played last season. Wowzers!

He’s certainly a future star for City and under the watchful eye and wing of Guardiola, there’s no better manager to help improve him and continue his development.

With Sergio Aguero the star man for City, chances are likely to be restricted to cup games and matches where the Argentinian is suspended/injured, however, so far the Nigerian has taken his chances and put in a number of impressive performances.

City’s opponents this week, Bournemouth, seem to have been lifted by the arrival of Jack Wilshere and his place in their midfield will make it difficult for any side they face this season, provided he can remain fit.

Bournemouth earned their first Premier League win of the season last week, with Callum Wilson scoring a clever goal in their 1-0 win against West Brom.

However, City have been in blistering form so far this season and have won all 6 competitive matches they have played so far scoring 17 goals in the process.

I would expect City to put a few past Bournemouth this week, including Iheanacho. In the Premier League last year, City won their games versus The Cherries 5-1 at the Etihad and 4-0 away at the Vitality Stadium so, Bournemouth are clearly a team that they enjoy playing against.

The scary thing is, the likes of Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan aren’t fully fit and the likes of Yaya Toure can’t even get on the bench. Talented players such as Samir Nasri, Wilfried Bony and Joe Hart have been shipped out on loan, showing the sheer strength in depth of the City squad.

It will take a mammoth effort from City’s title rivals if they are to be stopped from winning a third Premier League title this season, that’s for sure.

If Pep does start with Iheanacho this weekend, with the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, David Silva, Nolito and Raheem Sterling behind him to provide the service, this could end up being a cricket score. It is up to him to finish the chances of course, but,  I have every confidence that he will do so this week.

He is in just 5.1% of FPL teams and comes in at a bargain basement price of just £7.0m.

Admittedly, he will only be in my team for this gameweek, as he will surely make way for Sergio Aguero who will be back from suspension for City’s next Premier League game away at Swansea. Once Aguero is back, playing time is likely to be kept at a minimum, unless he gets suspended or injured again but, we cross that bride again when we come to it.

As previously mentioned, Iheanacho scored in their 2-1 win away at Manchester United last week and also scored a spectacular long range strike away on international duty for Nigeria earlier in the week.

He is clearly bang in form at the moment and I am confident he will continue this on Saturday against Bournemouth.
