The FPL Captains Poll - Gameweek 17

3:27pm Dec 15 2016

With favourable looking Premier League fixtures for both Chelsea and Spurs, both Diego Costa and Harry Kane are likely to top our Gameweek 17 Captains Poll

The Gameweek 16 FPL fixtures produced 8 clean-sheets across the mid-week schedule, keeping the majority of the big price strikers fairly quiet, with only Zlatan and Sanchez grabbing one a piece from the pool of premium FPL strikers.

With an average weekly score of just 48 points across the board, it was incredible to see that one FPL manager scored a whopping 145 FPL points – What’s more impressive is that this was the team owners very first week playing the game and now sits 4,126,849th in the world.

Meanwhile, Harry Kane had crushed the hearts of many Fantasy Premier League managers by blanking in Spurs’ 3-0 win over Hull City, as the the likes of Rondon (17) and Origi (11) each scored impressively, creating a boost for those teams who gambled on such shrewd moves and differentials.

With another quick turnaround between gameweeks, the 17th week of Fantasy Premier League fixtures is now only 48 hours away at the time of writing this piece and many of us are left with a huge dilemma on our hands – who will we captain for Gameweek 17 and what’s our gut-feeling?

Did Harry Kane put in enough of a shift versus Hull to justify him receiving the armband against a weak Burnley side on the road? The bookies have Kane as the nailed on favourite to score the 1st goal vs Burnley on Sunday which adds confidence to our choice.

Has Zlatan Ibrahimovic caught your eye after bagging a goal, 1 assist and 2 bonus points in Manchester United’s 1-2 victory away to Pardew’s struggling Palace? With upcoming fixtures against West Brom (A), Sunderland (H) and Middlesbrough (H) up next for United, it’s clear to see why Zlatan Ibrahimovic tops the ‘Threat’ ratings on FPL wit a score of 1020.

Alternatively, do you fancy Slaven Bilić to win back the trust of the Hammers fans this weekend with the likes of Dimitri Payet and Andy Carroll possibly causing havoc against Hull City? Again, another team with a fairly generous run of imminent fixtures against Hull City (H) and Swansea (A), should see West Ham take all 6 points on offer but which Fantasy Premier League stars will be grabbing the FPL points?

Whatever your decision – whatever your thoughts are – we want to hear from you. With so much variation out there in the world of FPL, it’s clear to see why the weekly transfer markets are so wide open, with the template team being blown out of the water as cheaper, in-form players continue to shine.
