Tottenham’s Harry Kane looks set to fall down the captaincy pecking order for Gameweek 18’s clash with Manchester City
When the likes of Willian, Bakayoko and Okazaki feature in the FPL Dream Team of the week, with Kane, Hazard and Salah nowhere to be seen, you know it’s been a bad Gameweek for many.
In our Gameweek 17 Captains Poll, it was Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah who once again dominated the votes, with Kane coming out on top with 49% – however, the Spurs front-man failed to deliver in a fixture which looked guaranteed for healthy returns and disappointed the masses.
Elsewhere, Salah too failed to produce attacking returns for fantasy bosses, as Liverpool slumped to a 0-0 bore draw against West Brom at Anfield on Wednesday night, returning just 3 points (6 as captain)
Whilst Eden Hazard put in an excellent performance in Chelsea’s 1-3 away win at Swansea, the midfield maestro unfortunately producded no goals or assists, as both Pedro and Willian stole the show and grabbed the attacking returns.
Although David Silva (16 points) and Kevin de Bruyne (10 points) were nowhere to be seen in our previous Captains Poll, there are Fantasy Premier League bosses out there who landed the captaincy gamble so, very well done to those who did.
Anyway – that’s enough about Gameweek 17 now folks; we’ve all struggled together so let’s move on together to Gameweek 18, where FPL managers are up against some difficult fixture match-ups which could swing this weeks Gameweek 18 Captains Poll.
With Spurs away to Manchester City in Saturday’s late kick-off, I think we’re about to see Harry Kane lose his place on the podium in our poll, with FPL bosses likely to focus on Arsenal vs Newcastle, Chelsea vs Southampton and Liverpool at Bournemouth.
With Lukaku back amongst the goals, are Manchester United about to return to their early season form?
If declared fit, is Morata worthy of the armband against a leaky Southampton defence at Stamford Bridge?
Or, will you opt for one of Liverpool’s fab 4 against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon?
Please cast your captaincy pick to the poll below and don’t hesitate to reach out to me via twitter @FFPundits_Drew with any questions you might have ahead of Saturday’s 11:30am deadline.
