Fantasy Premier League Captaincy Contenders for FPL Double Gameweek 36
Hurray – We’re treated to yet another FPL Double Gameweek! Sadly, it’s only a cheeky double for both Arsenal and Southampton this weekend, so not much to get too excited about when taking in to consideration, Arsenal’s below-par form of late.
But first of all guys, welcome we’d like to welcome back to all of our regular and new readers to the Fantasy Football Pundits FPL Captains Poll, where we find out who you guys think is the best captain choice for Double Gameweek 36.
Please make sure you vote in the poll below and tell us who YOUR Gamewek 36 captain will be, and then take a look at the stats to see who the majority have opted for.
Also feel free to check out the Captaincy Candidates Video above which I write and produce to go with this article on my YouTube Channel. The reception I received last week was amazing so thank you for the views and interaction guys.
So, let’s cut to the chase – who’s NOT going with Alexis Sanchez as captain for Double Gameweek 36?
One of the most explosive options in FPL this season by far and still the highest scoring player overall in the game, yet his recent form for Arsenal and FPL has certainly slumped, picking up only 1 goal and 0 assists in his last 6 Premier League outings.
This coincides with Arsenal’s uncertain form and poor attacking output of late and are things likely to improve as the season draws to an end?
The fixtures for Arsenal’s Double Gameweek aren’t the most enticing either – Manchester United at the Emirates who are above them in the table and defending well, and Southampton away who can challenge anyone on their day.
It puts into doubt the amount of points we can expect from Arsenal’s key players, especially Alexis Sanchez – however do you dare ignore a player like Alexis in a Double Gameweek no matter who the opponent is or the form?
With 7 double-figure hauls and one going over 20-points, he’s surely a must have. But will he get your captains armband?
Southampton’s Manolo Gabbiadini could be an outside bet for those desperate to catch up with their mini-league rivals. Whilst he hasn’t been setting the world alight recently and neither have Southampton to be fair, it was only a few months ago he was scoring 4 in 3 gameweeks.
After blanking and playing only 58 minutes against Hull City in their 0-0 draw in Gameweek 35, many FPL managers have already voiced their disappointment in the Italian – this could make him an extremely shrewd captaincy move for Double Gameweek 36, as his TSB (teams selected by) remains way below 10% (7.6%).
Tottenham’s Harry Kane is back from injury and is consistently bagging healthy FPL returns, in a Spurs side that are scoring goals for fun, in their attempt to stay within touching distance of league leaders, Chelsea.
Scoring 2 goals, 2 assists and 3 bonus points in his last 3 Premier League outings and a Gameweek 36 fixture against West Ham, surely Harry Kane is a tempting captaincy pick for those bosses who own him and those who’re looking to bring him in to their squads this week?
With the likes of Jesus, Hazard, Costa and Ozil likely to be captaincy differentials this week, are you in a position where you can afford not to captain Alexis Sanchez? Or, will you play safe and follow the masses in to Double Gameweek 36 and award the Chilean with the armband?
As always, we ask that you cast your Gameweek 35 captaincy selection to the poll below and be sure to reach out to us on Twitter with any comments or questions you might have about your teams and transfers.
NB: If you’re casting your vote via a smart phone, please tap the player’s name twice, or until they have a green mark next to the left of their name – it gets stuck sometimes.
