Gameweek 36 Score – 57 Points*
*Points total before the Southampton v Arsenal game
With just one more game remaining in Gameweek 36 (Wednesday evening), 9 teams have managed to keep a clean sheets so far, meaning the majority of my points this week have come from the 4 defensive spots.
Willy Caballero kept a clean sheet, in Man City’s 5-0 win over Crystal Palace, while Marcos Alonso produced a goal and a clean sheet, as the league leaders secured a 3-0 win over Middlesbrough.
Southampton held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw in their first fixture of the Gameweek, which saw Maya Yoshida return 6 points, while Jack Stephens remains trapped on the bench.
Arsenal’s 2-0 over Man Utd means that Nacho Monreal also kept hold of the clean sheet, in the first of his 2 fixtures this Gameweek.
In midfield, Josh King’s assist saw him return 5 points, as Bournemouth earned a 2-2 draw with Stoke. As of yet, however, there are no other attacking returns in the team.
Captain Alexis Sanchez failed to find the target with any of his 2 goal attempts against Man Utd, as did Dele Alli, who took just 1 attempt on goal during the 1-0 defeat to West Ham.
Eden Hazard, meanwhile, produced 4 attempted assists for Chelsea, during the 3-0 win over Middlesbrough, but his teammates failed to convert the chances.
As for the forwards, Harry Kane was more lively than his Spurs teammate; hitting the target with 2 of his 3 goal attempts against West Ham, but still failing to find the back of the net. Manolo Gabbiadini was very quiet for Southampton, mainly due to the nature of the game; Liverpool were the team in possession for the most part.
Finally, Gabriel Jesus provided an assist for Man City but it doesn’t seem like enough when you consider that his team secured a 5-0 win over Crystal Palace. The young striker did manage 3 goal attempts during the game but found the target with just 1 of those.
Bench Boost Chip Activated!
Having set up the team last Gameweek with the Wildcard, Gameweek 37 is all about the Bench Boost chip. 13 of the 15 players will be involved in 2 fixtures, while Josh King and Mason Holgate have single Gameweek fixtures against Burnley and Watford.
So providing there are no injuries, no transfers need to be made and the only decision that remains is who to captain…
The fixtures aren’t great for Spurs and maybe the motivation won’t be as high, with the league now looking out of sight. However, Harry Kane is leading the way in terms of shots on target during the last 4 games. His tally of 12 shots on target during this period is by far better than other player has managed.
Eden Hazard has managed just 1 shot on target during the last 4 games, although the Chelsea midfielder has produced 11 attempted assists during that period.
For the moment, however, Gabriel Jesus is wearing the armband, on the back of Man City’s 5-0 win over Crystal Palace. City have scored 10 goals during the last 4 games, which is level with Chelsea and no team have managed more.
Despite the young striker not being fully nailed on, the back-to-back home games show plenty of promise, but we’re still waiting for an update on the availability of Sergio Aguero.
