The FPLTips Squad Selection - Gameweek 27

Two potential inbound Manchester City transfers in to the FPLTips Fantasy Premier League team for Gameweek 27

Whilst the double Gameweek (27) has yet to be confirmed, we’re confident that Manchester City will breeze past Huddersfield on Wednesday evening in their FA Cup quarter-final fixture.

As confirmed by the Premier League, if (when) Manchester City beat Huddersfield and progress to the semi-finals, a double gameweek is on the card for City with fixtures against Sunderland away and Stoke City at home.

This Gameweek could give the points you require to help climb your private mini-leagues and overall rankings, with some FPL bosses claiming they will play the mighty TRIPLE CAPTAIN chip on Sergio Aguero this week…

Whatever your plans for Gameweek 27 might be, we urge all readers to await the outcome of Wednesday night’s FA Cup quarter-final tie, as this could open the door to a heavy, HEAVY points haul from our dearly beloved, Mr Sergio Aguero.

As always, we invite you to read the article and then check out the YouTube video below for all the stats and glossy graphics which help support this weeks four picks – and be sure to subscribe for even more Fantasy Premier League tips.

Gameweek 26 Score – 84 Points

Eldin Jakupovic came close to keeping a clean sheet as Hull took on Burnley, but a late goal by Michael Keane rescued a point for the away side.

Elsewhere in defence, Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines led Everton to a 2-0 win over Sunderland, with the former also providing an assist. Gareth McAuley continued with his incredible goal scoring record this season; he got his 6th Premier League goal of the season as West Brom earned a 2-1 win over Bournemouth.

In midfield, Gylfi Sigurdsson once again earned a return; his free kick set up Swansea’s goal against Chelsea. Christian Eriksen was on fire for Spurs; providing a total of 7 attempted assists, 2 of which were converted by his teammates in the 4-0 win over Stoke.

Sadio Mané’s debut for the FPLtips team was disappointing, with the Liverpool midfielder failing to return points and getting hooked off early, around the 65 minute mark. He failed to register a shot on target and produced just 1 attempted assist. Finally, Matt Phillips suffered a hamstring injury and Tom Carroll stepped up to provide the standard 2 points that you expect from your 5th midfielder.

There were 4 goals between the two forwards this Gameweek. Romelu Lukaku scored a single goal as captain in Everton’s win over Bournemouth but Harry Kane ran riot, returning 3 goals and 1 assist as Spurs comfortably beat Stoke.

Potential GW27 Transfers

With a likely Double Gameweek on the horizon for Man City, should they beat Huddersfield in their FA Cup replay, the early plan is to bring in a couple of Man City players, in the form of Raheem Sterling and Sergio Agüero.

The issue is trying to predict whether Pep Guardiola will rotate or rest his players between the two Premier League games, if the Double Gameweek does go ahead. It will be a bit of a gamble essentially, but it would be a good sign if these two were to be rested for the FA Cup replay against Huddersfield.

In terms of which players make way, it’s a very hard decision. Up front, Romelu Lukaku has to stay for his upcoming Gameweek 28 fixture, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is at home to Bournemouth this Gameweek. So sadly, it’ll be the hat-trick hero, Harry Kane who has to make way.

In midfield, the only two players that would work financially, as a replacement for Raheem Sterling are Sadio Mané and Christian Eriksen. With the Liverpool midfielder having only just entered the FPLtips team, and with Liverpool having a fixture in Gameweek 28, while Spurs blank, it unfortunately has to be the Spurs midfielder who makes way.

Gameweek 27 Team Selection

Lee Grant will return between the sticks, as Stoke host Middlesbrough in Gameweek 27 and they’ll potentially get the second fixture too, against Man City.

In defence, it’ll be a return to a back 3 to start with, with Leighton Baines moving to the bench ahead of Everton’s away fixture against Spurs. He may have penalty duties, but Seamus Coleman has been the one providing attacking returns from open play of late, so he gets the nod.

However, should Matt Phillips fail to recover from his hamstring injury, the Everton left-back will be in line to replace him.

For captaincy this week, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is worth considering if the Man City Double Gameweek doesn’t go ahead. The Manchester United forward has returned 3 goals and 1 assist in his last 6 matches and is up against a Bournemouth side that have conceded 12 goals during their last 4 games; no team in the league have conceded more, during the same period.

However, if Man City advance in the FA Cup and get a Double Gameweek, facing both Sunderland and Stoke in Gameweek 27, the captaincy will have to go to one of their players.

Raheem Sterling may have the better returns in recent week, but Sergio Agüero has built up years of trust amongst FPL managers, when it comes to reliable captains. If it looks like the Man City forward will feature in both fixtures, he’ll take the captain’s armband this Gameweek.
