United are the top seeds for Group A and overwhelming favourites to win the group. The Draw has been kind to Manchester United and with clever transfers, you could take full advantage of United’s relatively straight forward group.

Starman – Romelu Lukaku [£10.0m]

Lukaku was bought in the summer to improve United’s goal-shy attack. He has started the season in good form with 4 goals in 4 appearances and show now signs of slowing down.

With United having a relatively straight forward group, Romelu Lukaku could well match the heavy hitters for goal output early on.

Lukaku is a worthy candidate for the armband every gameweek, but stay tuned for further tips and help as we progress through the competition.

One to watch – Paul Pogba [£8.5m]

The Frenchman was quiet last season, but the arrival of Nemanja Matic seems to have unshackled Pogba. He’s looked very dangerous in the Premier League, registering 2 goals and 3 assist in 4 gameweeks.

The slower pace of European Cup football should give Pogba more time and space on the ball, making him a dangerous midfield asset for United and fantasy football bosses.

Predicted Lineup:Romero; Blind, Smalling, Lindelof, Valencia; Pogba, Matic; Martial, Fellaini, Mata; Lukaku

The Portuguese champions will be looking to progress to at least the knock out stages of the European Cup. One of Portugal’s most famous teams and a conveyor belt for talent for the rest of Europe, look favourites to progress from the group with United.

One to Watch – Raul Jimenez [£7.0m]

Jimenez is one of the most expensive players in Portuguese history as Benfica shelled out a total of 22 million euros for his services.

Last season, he played only 17 games, but managed 9 goals in that period. With last season’s top scorer Kostas Mitroglu being sold to Marseille, the pressure’s on Jimenez to perform.

Star Man – Pizzi [£7.0m]

Pizzi started out life as a winger, but was soon converted to a central midfield position when he signed for Benfica.

He scored 10 goals in 33 appearances last season and has also been known to take penalties for the club.

He’s a decent £7m option who will keep the weekly score ticking over and could be one of the best differentials out there.

Predicted Lineup: Varela, Almeida, Lopez, Luisao, Eliseu; Pizzi, Samaris, Zivkovic, Cervi; Seferovic, Jonas.

The biggest club in Switzerland have sprung their fair share of surprises down the years, but last season was one to forget as they failed to win a single group game, finishing fourth behind Ludogorets.

With a new coach in charge, Raphaël Wicky, Basel fans will be hoping to see European football after Christmas as they progress through the stages.

Star Man – Ricky van Wolfswinkel [£7.0m]

Ricky van Wolfwinkel made the move to Basel in summer from Vitesse Arnhem. The Dutch striker has since become pivotal for the Swiss champions, scoring 6 goals in 6 appearances so far this season.

If Basel want to have any hope of progressing, then van Wolfswinkel will need to at his best and could be a cheap enabler for fantasy bosses.

One to Watch – Mohamed Elyounoussi [£5.0m]

The explosive Norwegian attacking midfielder has attracted the interest from Leicester City during the transfer window, where the Foxes were linked with making a £25m bid.

Elyounoussi has bags of pace, loves to dribble with the ball and can also pick a pass. He also knows where the goal is and scored 10 goals last season in the league and is definitely one to watch.

Predicted Lineup: Vaclik; Akanji, Suchy, Balanta; Lang, Elyounoussi, Xhaka, Zuffi, Riveros; Wolfswinkel, Bua.

The Russian champions qualified for the champions league after winning a play-off against Swiss team, Young Boys.

No team likes travelling to Russia and with artificial pitches and freezing cold temperatures, it’s clear to see why.

CSKA will be looking to fight it out with Basel and Benfica for second spot in the group, but have a tough task on their hands.

Star Man – Alan Dzagoev [£6.5m]

The former wonder-kid is the heartbeat of the CSKA Moscow team, where most good things they do go through him.

In the league last season he scored 8 goals and created 11 assists and also scored the winning goal in the last league game to secure the title.

With CSKA Moscow looking to progress beyond the groups, Dzagoev will need to be at his best and is one for the watch list!

One to Watch – Aleksandr Golovin [£5.5m]

Golovin had his breakthrough season for CSKA Moscow helping them win the title.

He was linked with a move to Chelsea and Arsenal this summer, but both clubs deemed him not ready for the Premier League.

Golovin seems to have carried on where he left off and has 2 goals and an assist already in the league.

Predicted Lineup: Akinfeev; Ignashevich, Vasili Berezutski, Aleksey Berezutski; Fernandes, Dzagoev, Wernbloom, Golovin, Nababkin; Vitinho, Zhamaletdinov.
