Daily Fantasy Football Picks - Gameweek 8 on Starting11.io

4:50pm Oct 4 2018

With their midfield depleted, is Tottenham’s Heung-Min Son the man to help Harry Kane fire Spurs to victory?

Rip up those template teams, Harry Kane has arrived on the Fantasy scene for the 2018/19 season – but with too many premium player to squeeze into your FPL squads who will be the differentials to plug the gaps?

With no budgets on Starting 11, you can have them all – but how will you gain an advantage?  Who will be those alternative players that make you stand out during your head to head battle?

Well, I, @FFPundits_Drew, look to provide you with four differential picks for the weekend’s Fantasy Premier League and Starting 11’s Daily Fantasy Gameweek 8 action.

For all you FPL managers out there – as well as those of you playing Starting 11 daily fantasy with us each week, I hope this week’s sections give you plenty of food for thought when locking in your FPL and/or daily fantasy lineups.

Heung-Min Son vs. Cardiff  (H)

Freshly returning as a National Hero from the Asia Games, Son has literally won his right to play Premier League football for the next two years – with key midfielders injured he couldn’t have returned at a better time.

We have no form to go off here, but having benefited from having Son in my fantasy teams in the past I would have no reservations bringing him in now.

With the likes of Eriksen and Alli injured, Kane has been dropping a little deeper to control the play – at times this is meaning Son the furthest man forward.

This is the perfect fixture for Son to announce himself on the 2018/19 season, if Cardiff conceded two goals at home to Burnley – what will Spurs do?

Johann Berg Gudmundsson vs Huddersfield (H)

Burnley have been well-known for their defensive record these past couple of years, but one man who has constantly provided attacking returns during that period is Gudmundsson.

Incredibly after Burnley’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Monday night, Gudmundsson took his tally to three assists and a goal in only two games – hardy the stats you’d expect from a Burnley midfielder.

He certainly has the form, but with it this week he has the fixture too – up against Huddersfield who are yet to win a game this season and have conceded 16 goals this season (no other team has conceded more).

With a temptation on Starting 11 to fill your boots with premium players, Gudmundsson will be overlooked – only owned by 1.5% on FPL he is a fantastic differential.

Matt Doherty vs Crystal Palace  (A)

During pre-season there was a buzz on twitter about newly promoted Wolves, the likes of Neves and Jota were going to be fantastic Fantasy assets this season – but fast forward 7 gameweeks and it’s the defensive unit at Wolves that is catching our attention now.

After last week’s success with a Punt Pick of Rui Patricio (10 points on FPL and 20 points on Starting 11) I couldn’t help but follow this up with a Wolves defender, in the form of Matt Doherty who not only has three clean sheets during his last four games – he recorded two assists aswell.

Still owned by only 4.8% on FPL I am not sure why more managers are flocking to sign Wolves defensive assets, their opponents this weekend are Crystal Palace who have only scored five goals all season – a record only better than the three clubs in the relegation zone.

I created a six man Wolves defensive stack on Starting 11 during Gameweeks 5 and 7, I plan to do the same again this weekend – dare to join me?

Jamie Vardy vs. Everton (H)

During my FPL wildcard ahead of Gameweek 5, the toughest decision I had was whether to settle on the regular ‘goal a game’ Vardy or to take a punt on Lukaku – oh boy do I wish I had gone with Vardy now!

Two goals and an assist during his last two games as well as a favourable fixture run have made him one of the players to own at this stage of the season, unbelievably he is only owned by 4.7% of manager on FPL – get him in before everyone else does!

This week Leicester City are at home to Everton who have conceded eleven goals this season, five of which came during their last three.

The partnership between Maddison and Vardy is starting to blossom and I am already tempted double up and own both of them not only on Starting 11 this weekend, but longer term on FPL too.
