Tottenham’s Harry Kane is the standout captaincy selection for Gameweek 30 and dominates the polls, but who else is worth your consideration this weekend?
The international break is over and it’s time for that all-important captaincy decision once again, as we look ahead to Saturday’s Gameweek 30 deadline, decided by the results of our Captains Poll Twitter.
If you’d like to cast your vote in the Gameweek 30 Captains Poll, the link can be found towards the end of this article.
Here’s how things are shaping up for Gameweek 30 as things stand:
Please note that all player prices and ownership percentages were correct at the time or recording this content.
3. Patrick Bamford – Leeds United
vs. Sheff United (H)| 6.7M | 48.2% owned
With 10% of the vote, Patrick Bamford sits in third place ahead of Sheffield United’s trip to Elland Road.
The 27-year-old has 4 goals and 4 assists in 13 matches this calendar year, averaging 4.4 points per game.
Only Watkins (31) can better his 28 shots in the box in that time, amongst forwards, while only Lacazette (15), Watkins and Kane (each 17) have landed more than his 13 shots on target.
He’s returned points in all four meetings with teams in the bottom three this season, amassing 3 goals and 5 assists to average 10.3 points per game.
Leeds have netted 15 goals this calendar year, with only six teams scoring more.
Just four teams have landed more shots on target (61).
Sheffield Utd have shipped 23 goals over the same period; ranking ahead of only Newcastle (24) and Southampton (32).
No team has conceded more big chances than the Blades – with 36.
2. Bruno Fernandes – Man United
vs. Brighton (H)| 11.5M | 56.8% owned
Bruno Fernandes claims second place, receiving a substantial 23% of the vote.
The Portugal international has bagged 4 goals and 3 assists in 6 matches at Old Trafford this calendar year, where he’s averaged 8.5 points per game.
No player in any position has taken more shots (24) on home turf in 2021, while his 24 attempted assists is also a league-best figure.
The 26-year-old has averaged 7.3 points per game against the ‘bottom six’ this season, with 5 goals and 4 assists in 9 matches.
Over each teams’ respective last 4 home matches, it’s Man Utd who’ve scored the most goals – with 16, while only Leicester (16) can better their 15 big chances.
But Brighton have conceded just 6 goals in their last 6 matches, with only Chelsea restricting opponents to fewer big chances (1 to 4), which suggests they won’t be heavily beaten.
1. Harry Kane – Spurs
vs. Newcastle (A)| 11.6M | 45.9% owned
Out in front with 62% of the vote, Harry Kane leads the captain poll for a second Gameweek running.
The Spurs talisman has picked up 4 goals and 2 assists in the last 4 Gameweeks to average 7.2 points per game.
Only Iheanacho (7) has been afforded more big chances than his 5 in that time and the pair rank joint-top for shots in the box – each on 10.
Against teams in the bottom half of the table this season, Kane has picked up 11 goals and 9 assists in 14 matches; earning 8.6 points per game on average.
Spurs have notched 23 goals in 14 matches this calendar year, with only four teams scoring more.
Only Leicester (32) and Man City (50) have fashioned more than their 31 big chances.
Newcastle have conceded 24 goals in 2021, with only Southampton (32) shipping more, while just four teams have allowed opponents more big chances (27).
