FPL and Daily Fantasy Football Punts of the Week - Gameweek 6

11:20am Sep 21 2018

Differentials from Manchester City, Watford, Burnley and Leicester City feature on @FFPundits_Drew’s shortlist for Gameweek 6

A knock to Aguero? All three ‘must-own’ premium defenders failing to deliver in Gameweek 5? Salah blanks, AGAIN?

As soon as those ‘template teams’ start to emerge there is always something to throw a spanner in the works – but for those of you playing catch up already, which players can fill in the blanks and help you climb in your mini leagues?

As usual I have been scoured those players with a low ownership on FPL but who has managed to make it into our Punts of the Week article? Well, I, @FFPundits_Drew, look to provide you all with four differential picks for the weekend’s Fantasy Premier League and Daily Fantasy Starting 11’s Gameweek 6 action.

For all you Fantasy Premier League managers out there, as well as those of you who play Starting 11 daily fantasy with us each week – I hope this week’s Punts give you plenty of food for thought when locking in your FPL lineups and/or daily fantasy lineups.

Jamie Vardy vs Huddersfield (H)

A coin toss decision for me on FPL last week was to bring in Vardy or Lukaku, I went with Lukaku but just look at that fixture for Vardy this week – I hope I’m not made to regret it!

Vardy returned from is suspension and looked lively, he missed a big chance to score and had it not been for being subbed minutes before a penalty was awarded – he’d more than likely have been on the scoresheet.

This week Leicester host Huddersfield, who are not only winless but have conceded 11 goals in the process.

I’m expecting Vardy to shine and should be a player nailed on in your Starting 11 side this Saturday. As for FPL – not only is his ownership just 3.5, but just look at those upcoming Leicester fixtures…

Raheem Sterling vs Cardiff (A)

He was must own for the majority of last season, but a player who has hardly been spoken of during the opening five games of the season – Sterling is quietly starting to produce the form he showed us last season after scoring a goal in each of his last two games.

But what about Pep’s rotation I hear you cry?  Well Sterling has started four of Manchester City’s opening five games and without De Bruyne – can Guardiola afford to leave out key players?

Being owned by only 2.8% of FPL manager is almost a crime, certainly on Starting 11 you have no excuses – if for any reason he does get rested you can swap him out before kick-off.

Cardiff City have leaked seven goals in two games as Warnock insists on taking the game to his opponents, if he does the same vs Manchester City then the pace of Sterling could be devastating – stop overthinking it and bring him in!

Troy Deeney vs Fulham (A)

Ever present for the impressive Hornets this season is striker and captain, Troy Deeney – who has two goals and an assist to his name already this season.

This week Watford travel to a Fulham side who have conceded at least TWO goals in each of their five opening games, conceding five during their last two.

With premium options and no budgets on Starting 11, Fantasy bosses won’t consider Deeney for one of their three forward positions – even on FPL he is only owned by 6.2% of managers.  One to help you gain an advantage over your rivals.

Leaky defence vs a team who are scoring goals, with a player on penalties and nailed on to start – Deeney will be in my Starting 11 side this weekend.

Joe Hart vs Bournemouth (H)

I’ve hardly been Joe Hart’s biggest supporter the last couple of years, but his recent performances have made me reconsider him as a Fantasy option – highlighted again by his five saves vs Wolves last weekend.

How many Clean sheets will Burnley keep?  I’m not so sure, but what is a fact is that Hart is racking up those vital save points offered on Starting 11 as well as to some degree in FPL – a clean sheet would be a welcomed and unexpected bonus.

Only owned by 6.9% of managers on FPL and overlooked on Starting 11, he could be a fantastic punt this week as Burnley host Bournemouth.

Can Burnley keep Bournemouth out for a clean sheet?  I know they scored four last weekend but that Leicester defence parted like the red sea, Sean Dyche won’t allow it!

BEFORE YOU GO… From Gameweek 7 onwards, the Fantasy Football Pundits will have their own weekly mini-league on the daily fantasy football site, Starting 11.

To get involved, be sure to download and check out their FREE iOS and Android app – more details to follow on the site and Twitter in the coming days, so stay tuned.
