FPL Captain's Poll - Gameweek 7 | Salah vs Sterling

9:39am Sep 24 2019

Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling to battle it out for the top captaincy honours in Gameweek 7

Both Raheem Sterling (25.89%) and Sergio Aguero (24.77%) dominated our Gameweek 6 Captain’s Poll last weekend, with Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang taking 14.96% of the vote in 3rd place.

As Manchester City cruised to a comfortable and impressive 8-0 win against Watford in Week 6, Pep Guardiola caused mayhem amongst the Fantasy Premier League community by given Raheem Sterling (0 points) a rest-day. How dare he!

Whilst many FPL managers were fortunate enough to have Kevin de Bruyne as their vice captain, others opted for the likes of Mane and Salah, which left many of us kicking ourselves.

Aguero delivered an attacking return for his 6th game in a row this season – scoring once and providing an assist.

Captainers were rewarded with 18-points, but more was expected from the City forward, considering City scored EIGHT – and boy did he have plenty of chances!

Aubameyang captainers were left screaming at their TV sets whilst watching the live games, as he handed the ball to Pepe for Arsenal’s penalty kick against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

Aubameyang made up for his clear disrespect to FPL managers around the round by finding the back of the net late in the game. And then picked up a yellow card even later in the game. Mixed emotions at its finest.

10 points for those who captained Aubameyang is likely to feel underwhelming, but upcoming fixtures against Man United, Bournemouth, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace should offer FPL bosses encouragement going forward.

Gameweek 7 captaincy options

We like to keep this weekly article short and sweet, but with so many worthy captaincy contenders this week, it could prove tricky.

5 Manchester City players made it in to the Fantasy Premier League team of the week for Gameweek 7, where each of those 5 players (Otamendi, Mahrez, David Silva, Bernardo Silva and de Bruyne) scored 11 or more points.

An away trip to Everton may deter some FPL managers from captaining a Man City player this weekend, but with Raheem Sterling running on fresh legs and still owned by 40.8% of us, he’s going to prove hard to ignore.

Kevin de Bruyne and Sergio Aguero continue to deliver on a weekly basis and like Sterling, both are still highly owned and likely to be popular candidates against this week.

Favourable home fixtures for Chelsea, Spurs and Leicester City are likely to draw FPL bosses attention towards their premium assets, where form players such as Son, Abraham and Maddison could prove to be huge captaincy differentials this week.

An away trip to Sheffield United is likely to make Mo Salah, who is still 42% owned, the top captaincy candidate for Gameweek 7, with Mane and Firmino being solid alternatives in this fixture also.

With so many great FPL options this week, it’s likely to leave most of us with a big decision to make this week, but when you do, please be sure to post your vote to our Gameweek 7 FPL Captains Poll below so we can see who you’re siding with.
