Is now the time for Fantasy Premier League managers to drop Man City’s Sergio Aguero from their lineups ahead of Gameweek 11?

A quick recap of last week’s series: My selected Hotshot in Gameweek 10, Chris Wood, missed out with a hamstring injury, effectively rendering my Buy call a big miss – although he remains a genuine option should he be declared fit this weekend against Sheffield United.
The Hold call on Nicolas Otamendi was also a miss, though it may not have hurt many FPL managers, who probably saw Jemal Lascelles or Çağlar Söyüncü or Diego Rico coming off their bench.
This week, ahead of the Gameweek 11 schedule, I (@ohheyystranger) I explore two players who are a hot topic of conversation amongst the Fantasy Premier League community.
Anthony Martial – Manchester United
£7.6m | 4.6% owned | previous FPL fixture – 1 goal vs. Norwich (6pts)
Anthony Martial returned to the starting line-up for Manchester United after missing 5 league games and scored his side’s third goal in a 3-1 win, a match which also saw his penalty saved by Tim Krul in the Norwich goal.
The midfielder, who is deployed as a striker, registered returns in all his four league starts this season, taking his season point total to 25 which is an average of 6.25 per match, which is a higher return compared to Marcus Rashford and Daniel James.
His return also marked the first time United has scored more than a goal in a match since their opening 4-0 win over Chelsea.
This season, the Frenchman has taken 12 shots in total, and last weekend attempted 4 shots on target, including one which forced a point blank save from Krul.
His presence should also free up United’s reliance on Rashford, and Martial’s link-up play with the England striker should blossom in the coming weeks with favorable upcoming four fixtures before they face Tottenham Hotspurs and Manchester City in December.
Next 3 fixtures are Bournemouth (A), Brighton and Hove Albion (H), Sheffield United (A).
Sergio Aguero – Manchester City
£12.1m | 26.2% owned | previous FPL fixture – 14 minutes vs. Villa (1pt)
Sergio Aguero saw only 14 minutes in Manchester City’s win over Aston Villa on Saturday, much to the frustration of those who had captained the striker.
This is the second consecutive league match in which the Argentinian has been benched by Pep Guardiola, and he also failed to register any FPL points since Gameweek 7.
Aguero looks likely to continue to have his minutes managed as City negotiate four matches in the span of 11 days, which concludes with an away trip to Atalanta in the Champions League followed by Liverpool at Anfield.
At a premium price of £12.1M, Aguero is a very expensive liability despite his high point total this season which is only 1 point better than Tammy Abraham and 3 ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
It is also wise to take into consideration that at least four other City attacking players are capable of scoring at any given match, so coupled with Pep’s aggressive rotation this season, Aguero may not be as essential as he was in past seasons.
Next matches are for Aguero are Southampton (H), Liverpool (A), Chelsea (H).
