Could Everton’s Djibril Sidibé be the ultimate FPL differential for the next 5 or 6 Gameweek’s?
[Article written and published by @ohheyyystranger]
A quick recap of last week’s series – My Hotshot pick Adam Traore failed to record any attacking returns despite being one of the standout players in the 2-1 defeat at Watford.
My Stray Shot selection Tammy Abraham managed a fortunate FPL assist in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Brighton.
This week, ahead of Gameweek 22’s fixture schedule, I (@ohheyystranger) will discuss two players who are a hot topic of conversation amongst the Fantasy Premier League community.
Djibril Sidibé – Everton
£5.4 | 1.8% ownership | last FPL fixture – 3 points vs. Man City (A)
While Sidibe failed to record any returns against City in their 2-1 loss, he was the surprise recipient of 2 bonus points much to the delight of his owners.
The Frenchman completed five successful tackles in the match, a statistic which probably contributed to his overall BPS.
Sidibe has been often played out of position by Carlo Ancelotti in recent starts, and could prove to be a worthwhile investment for managers.
This season, Sidibe has provided assists for 4 goals and has 3 clean sheets to his name – achieved in only 11 starts for Everton.
In the last 3 matches, Sidibe created a total of 7 chances including the assist for the winner against Burnley.
Everton next face a Brighton side that have shipped 17 goals on their travels this season, an average of 1.7 per game and the Toffees have not conceded at Goodison Park in the last two league games.
With both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison on improved form, Sidibe’s attacking instinct on the right could be beneficial for the duo.
Next fixtures for Everton are Brighton (H), West Ham (A), Newcastle (H)
> Verdict: BUY
Marcus Rashford – Manchester United
£9.1m | 29.3% owned | last FPL fixture – 2 points vs. Arsenal (A)
Man Utd could not end the festive fixtures on a high as they succumbed to a 2-0 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates.
Marcus Rashford frustrated owners as he put in a disappointing performance and received the lowest match rating among United starters.
The striker lost possession the most times (4) in the match and had a passing accuracy of only 67%, far from his average of 86% for the season.
Many observed that he was not very involved in the match and this is supported by the unflattering statistic of having the least number of touches (35) of any outfield player in the match.
However, Arsenal should also be given credit for their constant pressing and approach to the match which seemed to surprise Man Utd.
With more budget strikers like Danny Ings and Dominic Calvert Lewin seemingly in the form of their lives, Rashford may well be the premium sacrifice that makes way.
While offloading Rashford now may not be a bad move, I urge caution as Man Utd face Norwich City who have conceded four in their last 3 away matches and in the previous meeting, Rashford contributed a goal and an assist in their 3-1 win at Carrow Road.
Next fixtures for Man Utd are Norwich (H), Liverpool (A), Burnley (H)
