Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford makes his way on to our FPL Watchlist ahead of Gameweek 13
Each Gameweek, the FPL Watchlist series takes a look at some potential future transfer targets for the FPLtips and FFPundits team.
Please note that all players prices and ownership percentages quoted in this video and article were correct at the time of writing and publishing.
Raúl Jiménez – £7.3m | 13.3% owned
Next 3 fixtures: Bournemouth (A), Sheff Utd (H), West Ham (H)
Wolves secured a 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, with Jiménez getting his name on the scoresheet for a 2nd successive Gameweek.
The Mexico international ranked joint-top with a tally of 5 shots inside the box during the Gameweek; on par with Wood and Rashford, while only 4 players could better his 0.83 expected goals (xG).
The 28-year-old has returned 3 goals and 2 assists over the last 5 Gameweeks, to produce an average of 7.4 points per game.
Only Mané (7.6), Pulisic (8.4) and Vardy (9.6) can better that, amongst players who featured regularly.
No forward provided as many as his 10 attempted assists during that period, while only Rashford could match his total of 3 big chances created.
The next 6 Gameweeks see Wolves face some favourable away ties with Bournemouth, Brighton and Norwich.
The Cherries rank 5th worst for big chances conceded (14) during home matches this season.
Mo Salah – £12.3m | 27.0% owned
Next 3 fixtures: Crystal Palace (A), Brighton (H), Everton (H)
[UPDATE: since writing and publishing this article and video, the news broke that both Andrew Robertson and Mo Salah are doubts for Gameweek 13.]
Gameweek 12 saw Salah find his first goal from open play in the Premier League since Gameweek 5, as the Reds extended their lead over Man City at the top of the table.
That goal means he’s now scored 6 goals in 6 games at Anfield this season, ranking top amongst Liverpool players for total shots (25), shots on target (13) and expected goals (4.59) during home matches.
He’s been afforded 8 big chances across those games, compared to 6 for Mané and 3 for Firmino.
The next 5 Gameweeks see Brighton, Everton and Watford travel to Anfield; 3 teams who all rank in the bottom 10 for goals conceded during away matches this season.
Only Newcastle (14) have shipped more goals on the road than Watford (13), while only West Ham (22) have allowed opponents more big chances than Brighton (20) during away matches.
Marcus Rashford – £8.6m | 13.9% owned
Next 3 fixtures: Sheff Utd (A), Aston Villa (H), Spurs (H)
Rashford and Martial continued to impress as Solskjaer’s side earned a 3-1 win over Brighton in Gameweek 12.
Only Burnley (12) produced more shots on target than Man Utd (11) this weekend.
Only Heung-Min Son could match Rashford’s tally of 7 shots during the Gameweek and the United striker ranked 1st amongst all players with an xG of 1.68.
The 22-year-old has returned 3 goals and 1 assist in the last 4 Gameweeks, remaining top for xG over that period (3.96).
His total of 8 shots on target could only be bettered by Vardy (9) and Pulisic (11), while only Wood (7) was afforded more than his 6 big chances.
Rashford also impressed creatively during the same period, creating 3 big chances, with only Yarmolenko and Sterling (each 4) faring better.
The immediate fixtures are cause for concern, however, with games against Sheffield Utd, Spurs and Man City in the next 4 Gameweeks.
