New feature writer, @FPL_Fly has scoured the bottom of the barrel to bring you 4, £5m FPL players or under to help fill in the gaps of your Gameweek 1 draft teams
Love him or hate him, @FPL_Fly has a reputable voice amongst the Fantasy Premier League community and when he’s not bashing Jürgen Klopp for another trophy-less season with Liverpool, the man (usually) speaks sense…
We hope this is the first of many opinion-pieces from Fly, but until he receives his next assignment from us, here are his 4 bargain bucket differentials to help you free-up funds for the elite FPL luxuries such as Aubameyang (£11m), Salah (£13m) and Rúben Neves (£5m)
GK: Rui Patricio – Wolves [£4.5m]
A proven Champions League/Europa League goalkeeper with 179 clean sheets in 460 games for Sporting Lisbon, and 27 clean sheets in 73 games for Portugal.
He is 30 years old – which in my opinion, is the peak age for a goalkeeper and is now playing for a club with massive ambition, and for a coach who is a former Portuguese goalkeeper himself.
Unproven in the Premier League and likely to unnerve a few fantasy bosses, but, if you’re looking to rotate two cheap goalkeepers this season, why not add Rui to your roster.
DEF: Kiko Femenía – Watford [£4.5m]
Playing with a better goalkeeper behind him in Ben Foster should see an increase in clean sheets for Watford this season.
Manager and fellow Spaniard Javi Gracia will have had his first preseason with the Hornets and should be able to take them to the next level.
As an attacking right-wing back who can easily push up and play alongside the attackers, I expect Femenia to be leading the pack in the elusive £4.5m FPL range.
MID: Jack Wilshere – West Ham [£5.0m]
Professional hospital patient Wilshere has got another chance to indulge his hobby of part-time professional footballer with a move to West Ham.
This could prove to be one of the best free transfers in the history of the Premier League.
When fit, he is arguably one of the best central midfielders in the league whose FPL stats over the last 10 years are skewed because of the lack of playing time at Arsenal for one reason or another.
I think this move will revitalise him and we could finally see the very best of him – at just £5.0m, he could be a steal in that 5th midfield berth.
FWD: Alexander Sørloth – Crystal Palace [£5.0m]
FPL managers wanting to pack their midfield will need a budget striker and I think this guy is slipping under the radar.
He signed in last year’s January Transfer Window, but only made 4 appearances (eve/TOT/mun/CHE) where he played on the left-wing in the first two games and upfront in the last two.
I think this could be a breakthrough season for him, in a dynamic attacking Palace outfit and remember – only 4 years ago, a certain Harry Kane cost just £5.0m in FPL…
