This 11-man squad will be entered by FPLtips into both the €6,500 and the €50,000 guarateed prize pool contest for FanTeam’s Gameweek 30 Weekly Monster.
As you may remember, back at the start of the season, FanTeam ran a season-long FPL game with a €250,000 prize pool.
After quietly continuing to play in that tournament and currently sitting in 390th place out of the 8825 entries, I’ve now decided to turn my hand to their €50,000 Weekly Monster contests which run each Gameweek and is guaranteed – which means no matter how many of us enter, the €50,000 will be paid out.
So, in this video, we’ll be creating a team for Gameweek 30’s contest, which begins this Saturday (14th March) at 3pm and includes 9 Premier League matches.
They always miss out the early kick off to give us that little bit of extra time to get our team sorted and it also means we get to see the 2pm team news before locking in.
The scoring is very similar to the Official FPL game, with points awarded for goals, assists and clean sheets, primarily.
However, you’ll notice that the prices are different; they change each Gameweek and are a reflection of the betting odds.
For example, for Gameweek 30, Kevin De Bruyne is the most expensive player, at 14.8M, ahead of a home fixture against Burnley, while Mo Salah is cheaper, at 11.8M, given his away trip to Everton.
So, without further ado, let’s get onto the team selection:
Goalkeeper & Defenders
Sheffield United have conceded just twice in the last 4 Gameweeks, while their opponents Newcastle have picked up back-to-back clean sheets.
At 8.4M, Dean Henderson offers a substantial saving on Ederson (10.9M); the most expensive goalkeeper this Gameweek.
John Lundstram (6.9M) looks to have reclaimed his starting place, after bagging a goal and assist in his last 3 appearances, while Newcastle right-back Javier Manquillo appears great value at just 4.2M; only the Burnley defenders are cheaper, ahead of their trip to Man City.
Patrick van Annholt (5.9M) has created 9 chances in the last 4 Gameweeks, only behind the Liverpool fullbacks Robertson (11) and Alexander-Arnold (10) and faces a Bournemouth side that have scored just 4 in their last 4.
With 1 goal, 2 assists and 4 clean sheets in the last 5 Gameweeks, Matt Doherty looks worthy of his 7.5M price tag, ahead of a trip to West Ham.
Since arriving in the Premier League, Bruno Fernandes (8.5M) has directly contributed to 5 goals in 5 Gameweeks (2 goals, 3 assists) while helping to revitalise Anthony Martial, who’s scored 3 in his last 4.
With an on-goinchesterg injury crisis, Spurs have crashed out of the Champions League and have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 4 league matches, where only Everton, Bournemouth (each 9) and Aston Villa (11) have conceded more goals than their 8.
Mo Salah (11.8M) has 5 goals and 1 assist over the last 6 Gameweeks and no player has produced as many shots, in total (28), from inside the box (23) or on target (11) as the Egyptian King over that period.
Pep Guardiola has hinted at a return for Kevin De Bruyne (14.8M) against Burnley, in order for him to “get the rhythm of the team” ahead of their Champions League 2nd leg tie with Real Madrid.
The Belgian was a big miss during the defeat to Man Utd in Gameweek 29, as evidenced by the 5 goal involvements he’s amassed in his last 6 matches (1 goal, 4 assists).
ForwardsMan City assets are the bookie’s favourites this week and since there’s enough cash to spare, it’s hard to overlook either Sergio Agüero (13.6M) or Gabriel Jesus (13.4M).
The Argentine has 8 goals and 2 assists in 11 league appearances at the Etihad this season, hile Burnley have conceded 10 goals in their 4 away matches against the ‘big six’.
Raúl Jiménez (9.3M) has 2 goals in the last 4 Gameweeks and falls behind only Jay Rodriguez and Calvert-Lewin (each 6) amongst forwards, with a tally of 5 big chances in that time.
Having splashed out on the Manchester City assets, it makes sense to give the armband to one of them and with his ever-impressive goal-scoring form at home, Sergio Agüero will get the nod, should he be named in the starting XI when the 2pm team news drops.
