Manchester City assets will prove difficult to ignore ahead of Gameweek 11 clash with Premier League strugglers, Fulham FC
A score of 52 points for the FPLTips team in Gameweek 10 and a small green arrow, put their team up to 117,950 in the overall Fantasy Premier League rankings.
UPDATE: Moments after finishing the recording for this video, news had broken that the game between Aston Villa and Newcastle has indeed been postponed.
Goalkeeper and Defenders
Southampton had a 2-0 lead over Man Utd but a second half-comeback saw McCarthy concede three times.
Ayling kept a somewhat surprising clean sheet on the road to Everton, to earn the only significant points at the back.
Leeds allowed the Toffees 8 shots on target; the most of any side in Gameweek 10.
No defender took as many touches in the opposition’s box as Ayling (6), while only Targett (4) produced more than his 3 attempted assists.
The Aston Villa left-back also saw a late assist to Ollie Watkins ruled out by VAR for a marginal offside.
Please note that all player prices, ownership percentages and match odds quoted by Bet Bind were correct at the time or writing and recording this content.
Salah was also the subject of a disallowed goal, after finishing well from Roberto Firmino’s through ball.
Bruno Fernandes linked up with Edinson Cavani to inspire Man Utd’s second-half comeback and no FPL midfielder took more than his 6 shots during the Gameweek.
Aston Villa were unfortunate to lose 2-1 to West Ham after Grealish had deservedly drawn his side level in the first-half.
5 attempted assists by their talisman ranked behind only Riyad Mahrez (6) and Matheus Pereira (9) in Gameweek 10.
There weren’t many returns amongst any of the FPL forwards this Gameweek, with Cavani, Wilson and Joelinton the only goalscorers.
Bamford once again had plenty of service but just couldn’t find the right finish; only Oli McBurnie (6) fired more than his 5 shots in the box.
A well-organised Fulham side earned a surprise 2-1 win over Leicester, as Vardy was starved of supply.
He racked up a figure of just 0.22 xG but salvaged things to some degree by setting up a late goal for Harvey Barnes.
So, let’s move on to the transfer plans ahead of Gameweek 11:
The mission this Gameweek is to somehow find funds to bring in Kevin De Bruyne after his recent price rises have blocked off the route from Son with a single transfer.
Reluctantly, it could be Calvert-Lewin who makes way, with meetings against Chelsea, Leicester and Arsenal in the next 4 Gameweeks.
Over the past 3 Gameweeks, he ranks joint-9th for shots in the box (6) and 11th for expected goals (1.05) amongst FPL forwards.
As discussed in yesterday’s Watchlist video, Newcastle have a favourable schedule over the next 4 Gameweeks, including home ties with West Brom and Fulham.
So, Callum Wilson would be the player coming in in theory but it’s definitely not going to be an early move, with reports of a COVID-19 outbreak at Newcastle United and fears that their Friday night meeting with Aston Villa could even be postponed.
If that were to be the case, an alternative option could be to bring Diogo Jota in to replace Grealish – who would then also not have a Gameweek 11 fixture. Though selling the in-form Villa captain does seem short-sighted.
The primary reason for making either of those moves would be to free up the funds for Kevin De Bruyne, who looked back to his best in the 5-0 win over Burnley.
It was interesting to see him still used as a no.10, with Gundogan and Rodri behind him – and later Fernandinho – even against a side that was expected to sit back and concede possession.
Over the last 2 Gameweeks, the Belgian has created 3 big chances to rank joint-top with Digne and Fernandes.
Only Trezeguet and Fernandes (each 10) have fired more than his 9 shots amongst midfielders.
With all that being said, here’s how the team could line-up for Gameweek 11:
Gameweek 11 Preview
Goalkeeper and Defenders
This week, it’s a slightly more favourable fixture for Southampton, so Walker-Peters comes back into the XI alongside McCarthy.
Brighton have scored just 4 goals in the last 4 Gameweeks, with only 5 teams faring worse.
They’ve landed just 11 shots on target in that time; only Arsenal (8) and Burnley (6) have managed fewer.
With Leeds travelling to Stamford Bridge, Targett gets the nod over Ayling – although that could change if Villa’s game were to be postponed.
Justin stays in the side as Leicester look to return to winning ways against ‘bottom of the league’ Sheffield Utd.
The Blades have had a good number of chances in recent matches but have just lacked the finishing.
They’ve scored just once in the last 4 Gameweeks despite having 10 big chances.
It’s set to be a packed midfield, with no space for Diogo Jota – unless of course Villa’s game were to be postponed; opening up the option to sell Grealish instead of Calvert-Lewin.
Salah has 4 goals and 1 assist at Anfield this season, where he’s averaged 8.8 points per game.
Bruno Fernandes boasts an incredible record away from home since arriving in the Premier League, with 11 goals and 7 assists in 11 appearances, averaging 11.0 points per game.
But he’s up against a West Ham side that have kept clean sheets in 2 of their last 4 matches, shipping just 3 goals; only Chelsea and Spurs (each 1) have conceded fewer.
As mentioned, Callum Wilson could join the team, providing we get good news concerning Newcastle’s COVID-19 outbreak and his own personal status in that regard.
Despite scoring just once in the last 4 Gameweeks, Bamford has taken a league-best 16 shots in the box.
Amongst FPL forwards, his tally of 6 shots on target can only be bettered by Vardy – with 8.
Sheffield Utd are yet to keep a clean sheet this season and they’ve shipped 7 goals in the last 4 Gameweeks, with only Villa, Burnley, Leeds and Everton (each 8) faring worse.
We’re spoilt for choice with good captain options this Gameweek, with the consistency of Bruno Fernandes getting hard to ignore, while Salah is always a contender when playing at Anfield.
But despite a good showing against Leicester from Fulham, a trip to the Etihad will surely prove a much bigger test.
De Bruyne has supplied 4 assists in the last 4 Gameweeks and Man City need to build on their 5-0 win over Burnley as they look to climb up from 10th place in the table.
Update: Aston Villa vs. Newcastle game postponed
Moments after finishing the recording for this video, news has broken that the game between Aston Villa and Newcastle has indeed been postponed.
Both teams have a free upcoming midweek slot, so there is still a chance in theory that the game could remain part of Gameweek 11 and patience with transfers will be needed.
If that isn’t the case, then, as mentioned earlier in the video, the alternative option could be to bring Jota in for Grealish to free up the funds necessary for De Bruyne, holding onto Calvert-Lewin.
