Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero likely to wear captains armband against Leicester City in Gameweek 37 clash
The squad looks to be in good shape for this weekend, with some favourable matches ahead for Wolves, Man City and Liverpool.
It could be an option to look at replacing Lloris for Pickford or Leno, or even to bring in a United asset such as Shaw or Pogba for remaining fixtures against Huddersfield and Cardiff.
But the current plan is to save the free transfer and here’s a look at the likely lineup for Gameweek 37:
Spurs have only conceded 2 goals across their last 4 matches; on par with Everton, with Man City and Liverpool (each 1) the only sides to fare better.
However, Bournemouth have scored 9 goals during the same period; behind only Liverpool (12), while Southampton (18) are the only side to record more than the Cherries’ 15 big chances.
Robertson and Laporte are certain to keep their places after adding to their clean sheet tallies last Gameweek and ahead of meetings with Newcastle and Leicester respectively.
Doherty returns in place of Duffy, with Wolves set to host a Fulham side that have scored just 3 times across their last 4 away trips.
No player has returned more FPL points (111) than Mané during this calendar year (GW21-36), with the Liverpool midfielder producing an average of 6.9 points per game across that period.
The Reds face a Newcastle side that have kept only 1 clean sheet in the last 8 Gameweeks; only Watford, Man Utd and Huddersfield (each 0) have fared worse in that respect.
Heung-Min Son hasn’t been in the best of form, returning 1 goal and 1 assist in the last 5 Gameweeks but his total of 7 efforts on target ranks joint-3rd amongst midfielders.
Spurs face a Bournemouth side that have only kept 1 clean sheet in the last 6 Gameweeks, conceding 11 goals, with only Brighton (13) and Huddersfield (21) shipping more.
14 goal involvements (8 goals, 6 assists) by Sterling during this calendar year ranks top amongst midfielders, with Agüero and Vardy (each 15) the only players to amass more, across all positions.
His average of 6.9 PPG across that spell ranks joint-top amongst midfielders, on par with Sadio Mané.
Diogo Jota has impressed since his move to a striker role, with 7 goals and 5 assists in 15 appearances and an average of 5.9 PPG.
Wolves host a Fulham side that have conceded 14 goals across their last 6 away matches; only Huddersfield (18) have fared worse.
He’s yet to find a goal since his return from injury but Danny Ings fired 2 efforts on target against Bournemouth last weekend, ranking joint-top amongst teammates with the in-form Shane Long.
Across the last 4 matches, his 6 attempted assists can only be bettered by Ward-Prowse amongst Southampton players, while the pair rank joint-top with 3 big chances created apiece.
West Ham have conceded 11 goals in the last 6 matches and only Huddersfield have allowed opponents more big chances (22 to 18).
Agüero looked more like his old self against Burnley, taking 9 goal attempts and scoring his first goal since Gameweek 32.
15 goal involvements for the Argentine during this calendar year ranks joint-top amongst all players, alongside Vardy.
Jiménez found his 13th goal of the season last weekend, directly contributing to 23 goals in total this campaign.
He’s fired more shots inside the box (27) than any other forward during home games this calendar year, returning 3 goals and 4 assists across those 8 matches.
There’s very little to separate Agüero and Sterling ahead of Man City’s final home game of the season.
The Argentine has recorded 1 more FPL involvement this calendar year (15 to 14) but the PFA Young Player of the Year has returned 6.9 PPG to Agüero’s 6.7, during that time.
Sterling has the advantage of an extra point for a goal and a potential clean sheet point but Agüero has penalty duties and is just 1 behind Mo Salah in the Golden Boot race, so it’s the forward who’s edging the decision as things stand.
