Manchester United’s Paul Pogba likely to replace Tottenham’s suspended Son Heung-min for Gameweek 38
“There are 2 free transfers available ahead of the final Gameweek, with Heung-Min Son almost certain to be one of the players exiting the team due to his suspension.”
Spurs have appealed the sending off, so there is a small chance it may get overturned but unless that happens, Paul Pogba is likely to be the man to come in.
Man Utd were far from their best against Huddersfield but the Frenchman struck the woodwork twice and the meeting with Cardiff at Old Trafford is a chance to end the season on a high.
Redmond and Zaha are very much in the thinking for the 2nd free transfer, with Wolves attackers Jota and Jiménez in contention to make way but the injury to Robertson midweek has thrown a spanner in the works.
Spurs have kept clean sheets in the 3 of their last 4 home matches, only conceding the 1 goal to West Ham in that time.
Everton have been on an impressive run of form themselves but they’ve failed to score in their last 2 away trips, losing 2-0 to Fulham and drawing 0-0 with Crystal Palace.
Robertson is a doubt for the meeting with Wolves after being withdrawn at half-time midweek with a calf injury.
If the fullback fails to recover, a straight-forward swap to Alexander-Arnold may be on the cards.
Southampton’s boss promised rotation for their final matches of the season but Valery has the potential to do well if he gets the nod; Huddersfield have scored just 2 goals in their last 4 matches.
With most bookmakers offering such short odds on anything other then a comfortable Liverpool win, we’re happy to leave this transfer until further information is available.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on Jurgen Klopp’s press conference this week, as well as the bookmaker odds, where most will start you off with a free bonus.
Laporte and Man City have kept clean sheets in 6 of their last 7 matches, conceding only 1 goal.
They face a Brighton side that have scored just 2 goals across their last 6 matches; fewer than every other team in the league.
The last 4 Gameweeks have seen Mané score 3 times from 10 shots inside the box, with only Fraser (5) and Salah (6) contributing to more goals from midfield.
His total of 5 big chances ranks joint-top amongst midfielders, alongside Sterling.
Pogba has found 2 goals in the last 4 Gameweeks, both of which came from the penalty spot.
But he did, however, produce 13 shots, with 6 inside the box, during that period; ranking top amongst teammates, with only Rashford firing more efforts on target (5 to 3).
Cardiff have conceded 31 goals in away matches this season and only West Ham (57) and Fulham (63) have allowed opponents more big chances on the road (55 for Cardiff).
So, it comes as no surprise to us that sites such as freetips.com have Klopps’ Reds as the 4/11 odds-on favourites to beat Wolves in Gameweek 38, with Sadio Mane and Mo Salah the 19/20 joint First Goal Scorer favourites.
Sterling ranks top amongst midfielders for expected goals (3.3) over the last 4 Gameweeks, while his total of 11 shots inside the box can only be bettered by Redmond (13), Salah (16) and Jota (18).
Brighton have shipped 10 goals in their last 6 matches, with only Huddersfield (114) and Crystal Palace (116) conceding more than their 105 goal attempts.
Deulofeu has matched Sterling for shots inside the box (11) and efforts on target (5) over the last 4 Gameweeks.
West Ham have conceded 57 big chances during away matches this season, with only Fulham (63) allowing opponents more.
Ings isn’t guaranteed a place in the starting lineup, after being withdrawn at half-time last Gameweek, but a home fixture against Huddersfield increases the appeal of Southampton’s attacking assets.
The Terriers have shipped 44 goals on the road this season, 2nd worst in the league only to Fulham (45), with only Brighton, Burnley and Fulham conceding more shots inside the box.
Agüero has returned a total of 15 FPL involvements (11 goals, 4 assists) during this calendar year (GW21-37), ranking joint 1st amongst forwards and producing an average of 6.4 PPG.
His tally of 21 efforts on target ranks joint-top with Rashford.
Wolves have caused the ‘top six’ plenty of problems this season but can they repeat that against a Liverpool side that beat Barcelona 4-0 midweek?
If Robertson is fit and available, it would free up a transfer to potentially move Jiménez on to Zaha or perhaps to move Jota on to Redmond, and move to a 3-5-2 formation.
Captaincy is fairly wide open this Gameweek, with the Man City and Liverpool attackers likely to provide the safe options.
Sterling and Mané have both been involved in 5 big chances in the last 4 Gameweeks, with the pair ranking top amongst midfielders.
Wolves have only shipped 2 goals in the last 4 matches, with Man City the only defence to concede fewer big chances (3 to 4), so it’s Sterling who’s currently wearing the armband.
However, a final day punt on Paul Pogba at home to Cardiff is tempting!
