An FPL transfer dilemma for @_FPLTips ahead of Gameweek 23 – ditch Alli or Son for Lingard?
The @_FPLTips team are back after a bang-average Double Gameweek, but still have SIX players from West Ham and Spurs, so how will they accommodate them in Gameweek 23?

Jesse Lingard is currently the most transferred in player ahead of Gameweek 23, after scoring his 7th Premier League goal of the season against Everton last Gameweek. He’s found FPL returns in 4 of his last 5 games, providing 4 goals and 1 assist over that period.
During the same time, Lingard’s tally of 8 shots on target is on par with Raheem Sterling and only Mohamed Salah has taken more amongst midfielders, with 9.
If confirmed fit, the Liverpool man is another player to consider bringing in for Gameweek 23 but with only 1 free transfer available and a fixture against league leaders Manchester City for Jürgen Klopp’s side, that transfer may have to wait until next Gameweek.
Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son are the two players who could be replaced by Lingard and there is hardly anything between their underlying numbers, so that’s a tough decision to make.
Even keeping both and going without the Manchester United midfielder remains an option.
So, those are some early transfer thoughts but here’s how the team is currently shaping up for Gameweek 23:
Both Burnley and West Ham have fairly good fixtures, away to Crystal Palace and Huddersfield respectively, but Nick Pope will start between the sticks ahead of Adrian, due to Burnley’s overall form this season.
They’ve faced Spurs, Man Utd and Liverpool in 3 of their last 4 games but kept a clean sheet away to Huddersfield amongst them.
It will likely be a back four in defence, with Ben Mee joining Nicolas Otamendi, Andreas Christensen and Arthur Masuaku.
The alternative would be to play either Ruben Loftus-Cheek or Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but the Crystal Palace midfielder is up against Burnley and has missed the last couple of games due to an unspecified injury, while Everton travel to Spurs in Gameweek 23.
Man City and Chelsea have had the strongest defences over the last 4 Gameweeks, conceding just 1 goal and 2 goals respectively, while West Ham face a Huddersfield side that have scored just twice during that period; only Everton have managed fewer goals.
Raheem Sterling found his 14th Premier League goal of the season against Watford in Gameweek 22 and his tally of 8 shots on target during the last 5 Gameweeks is behind only Mohamed Salah amongst midfielders.
For now, the Spurs double up of Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son remain in the side, for their home fixture against Everton.
They’ve each provided 2 goals and 2 assists during the last 3 Gameweeks and despite being solid under Big Sam generally, Everton have conceded 2 goals in each of their last 2 games.
The concern, however, is that Everton may look to park the bus and we saw how Spurs struggled to break down West Ham last week.
Marko Arnautovic missed West Ham’s second fixture in the Double Gameweek due to a tight hamstring but has a good chance of being available for the trip to Huddersfield.
He’s been involved in 4 big chances during the last 4 Gameweeks; only Morata, Aguero, Kane and Salah have had more.
Up front, it’s the premium strike force of Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane for their respective fixtures against Liverpool and Everton.
The Manchester City forward has hit 7 shots on target during the last 4 Gameweeks; only Kane has taken more, with 10.
There isn’t a standout captaincy option in terms of an inform player with an obviously kind fixture, but the two forwards at least have the form.
He may have frustrated us during the Double Gameweek, but Harry Kane is the Premier League’s top goal scorer and no player has taken more shots on target than the Spurs man, during the last 4 Gameweeks.
