Jurgen Klopp confirms huge Liverpool boost with Sadio Mane injury update, but in comes Mo Salah as his replacement for Southampton game.
There’s still one more very important game to be played in Gameweek 24 but as things stand, it’s looking like a bit of a disaster.
McCarthy has the only clean sheet so far, after Liverpool conceded for the first time in 8 matches, with Raúl Jiménez the man to get on the score-sheet.
Big returns from Alexander-Arnold and particularly Robertson will be needed when they face West Ham on Wednesday night, say experts from Online-Casinos.co.uk.
Especially after triple captain Sadio Mané suffered a hamstring injury just 32 minutes into the Double Gameweek; it’s now a nervous wait to see just how much damage Mo Salah decides to do.
With the news that Danny Ings was set to be on the bench, Grealish came in to replace the injured Richarlison with a late transfer.
The Englishman was unfortunate not to pick up an assist after setting up Matt Targett, who’s shot was saved before Douglas Luiz turned in the rebound.
Jamie Vardy missed out on most of the action in Leicester’s 4-1 win over West Ham after he was withdrawn with an injury just before half-time.
So far, it’s been another drop in rank down to 105,667 and that’s likely to get even worse on Wednesday night.
Please note that all player prices and ownership percentages quoted in this video and article were correct at the time of writing.
Sadio Mané has been ruled out of the midweek match against West Ham and is also expected to be unavailable to face Southampton in Gameweek 25.
Although it may only be a short-term injury, that news unfortunately means he will likely have to be sold in a like-for-like swap for teammate Mo Salah, who’ll now provide the standout captaincy option.
Here’s how the team is likely to lineup:
It’s hard to see a clean sheet for Alex McCarthy this week, with Southampton travelling to Anfield to face the league leaders but hopefully he can earn one or two save points.
The Saints don’t face another current ‘top six’ side until Gameweek 33, so he’s in there for the long-term.
Liverpool have kept 5 clean sheets in the last 6 Gameweeks and no side have conceded fewer goals (1) or big chances (8) in that time.
Whilst it’s been Alexander-Arnold who’s picked up the attacking returns of late, Robertson has created 3 big chances in the last 4 Gameweeks; more than any other defender.
Lundstram has had his minutes managed over the last 5 Gameweeks, where he’s completed 90 minutes on just one occasion.
Hopefully, he makes a return to the starting lineup for the trip to Crystal Palace, though there is some uncertainty there.
The decision of whether or not to sell Maddison in the coming weeks will largely depend on what happens tonight in the cup tie with Aston Villa; whichever team progresses is likely to see their Gameweek 28 fixture postponed as a result.
Either way, the plan is to keep him at least for Chelsea’s visit to the King Power Stadium this weekend.
Frank Lampard’s side have conceded in all but one of their 12 away matches this season, with only 6 teams shipping more goals (20).
De Bruyne has 3 goals and 7 assists in the last 8 Gameweeks, ahead of the meeting with Spurs in Gameweek 25.
No midfielder has created more than his 7 big chances during that period, while only Buendía (32) can better his 26 attempted assists.
Mo Salah ranks top amongst midfielders for shots inside the box (15) over the last 4 Gameweeks, while only Mahrez (4) and Traoré (5) have created more big chances than his 3.
But Southampton have only conceded 5 goals in the last 6 Gameweeks, earning wins over Leicester, Spurs and Chelsea in that time.
Aston Villa have scored 7 goals in the last 6 Gameweeks, with Jack Grealish directly contributing to 57% of them.
Only 4 midfielders have created more chances in that time (14) and no teammate has fired more than his 11 shots.
Jamie Vardy is part of the squad to face Aston Villa midweek, boosting his chances of a return in Gameweek 25.
Prior to his first-half appearance against West Ham, the 33-year-old had returned 3 goals and 2 assists in his previous 6 outings.
No player has been afforded more big chances than Raúl Jiménez (6) in the last 4 Gameweeks, while only Jesus, Salah and Firmino (each 15) can better his 12 shots inside the box.
Wolves are undefeated in their last 3 league meetings against Man Utd and have scored on each occasion.
Despite the tough fixture, Danny Ings offers insurance against the double Liverpool defence; if Southampton are able to get a goal, there’s a good chance he’ll be involved.
Prior to his rest in Gameweek 24, the Saints forward had scored 5 goals in his previous 6 appearances.
During that period (GW18-23), no player took more than his 20 shots inside the box, while only Mané (7) and Jesus (8) were afforded more than his 6 big chances.
In the likely absence of Sadio Mané, the standout captain option in Gameweek 25 will be Mo Salah.
Despite some improved defensive numbers for Southampton in recent matches, it’s hard to see them keeping out the league leaders.
Additionally, the two other premium options in the team, Vardy and De Bruyne, both face matches against ‘top six’ sides.
