Can Norwich City bring their attacking style of football to the Premier League and be worthy contenders for our FPL squads?
Praised for their attractive style of football, the 2018/19 EFL Championship winners recorded a league-high total of 93 goals scored; 15 more than runners up Sheffield United.
But their attack-minded style of play seemed to take its toll defensively, with Daniel Farke’s side earning just 13 clean sheets in 46 games, while 7 Championship teams conceded fewer goals (57).
BEFORE YOU CONTINUE… As things stand, only 2000 FPL bosses have entered FanTeam’s £250,000 cash league, yet the top 1250 are paid out… if you’ve thought about entering and haven’t yet done so, what on earth are you waiting for? Now’s the time! [click banner below for info]
Forward: Teemu Pukki – £6.5m
Operating as a lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation, Pukki was directly involved in 41% of his team’s goals and earned the Championship Golden Boot for his tally of 29.
A total of 57 efforts on target ranked the Finland international 3rd in the league, only trailing Tammy Abraham (60) and Neal Maupay (63).
Emiliano Buendia (12) was the only teammate to provide more than Pukki’s 9 assists, while only Hernandez (67), Stiepermann (74) and Buendia (91) created more chances than the 29-year-old (54).
Even more impressive is the fact that not one of Pukki’s 29 league goals came from the penalty spot.
It’s not clear who will be given spot kick duties for the Canaries, after they scored only one of their 6 penalties last season, with 5 different players stepping up to try.
If Pukki can claim them, it will significantly boost his FPL appeal.
Midfielder: Emiliano Buendia – £6.0m
Lining up on the right of the 3 attacking midfielders, Buendia directly contributed to 20 goals last season (8 goals, 12 assists), earning more assists than any teammate.
Boosted by his share of set piece duties, the Argentine ranked joint-2nd amongst Championship players for his total of 12 assists, which was only bettered by Brentford’s Said Benrahma (14).
91 chances created by the 22-year-old was more than any Norwich teammate and ranked 3rd in the league, only behind Sheffield United’s Oliver Norwood (97) and Leeds midfielder Pablo Hernandez (122).
Defender: Max Aarons – £4.5m
Although we should be wary of investing in the Canaries’ defence, based on their relatively low tally of 13 clean sheets last season, 19-year-old Max Aarons could be worth considering.
The right-back enjoyed a very successful debut season and has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs this summer.
He was directly involved in 8 goals (2 goals, 6 assists) in 41 appearances, ranking joint-3rd amongst Championship defenders with a tally of 6 assists, while his total of 31 chances created ranked 6th amongst Norwich teammates.
DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS… our partners at FanTeam.com are offering a quarter of a million Euro prize pool for their season-long game, which is almost identical to FPL. Yes, that’s €250,000
There’s a cool €50,000 for first place prize and the top 1250 places are paid out! What’s even better is that only 2200 managers have entered, so you’re almost guaranteed to land in the cash places.
It’s absolutely not to be missed and we, as well as many other well known FPL accounts and websites, we’ll be playing this game also.
