Punt of the Week - Gameweek 6

After a blistering 21-point performance against West Ham United in Gameweek 5, West Brom’s Nacer Chadli is this week’s Fantasy Premier League Punt of the Week

Gameweek 5 Punt Kelechi Iheanacho put in a sterling (no pun intended) performance this weekend against Bournemouth as Manchester City cruised to a 4-0 home win against The Cherries.

The Nigerian chipped in with a goal and an against Bournemouth, earning 10 FPL points in the process. In my case, it could have been 30 as I came extremely close to activating my triple wildcard this week. However I bottled it and decided to save it for when Aguero is back, hopefully that decision doesn’t come back to haunt me!

Moving onto this week, my punt is West Brom record signing Nacer Chadli.

The Belgian winger put in without a doubt the performance of the week last time out, with 2 goals and 2 assists in the 4-2 win over West Ham earning 21 FPL points in the process.

The fact that he seems to be on penalty duties for the Baggies makes Chadli an even more promising FPL candidate.

Just a few weeks into his West Brom career, Chadli seems to have already developed a good partnership with Salomón Rondón with the pair combining several times this weekend.

Rondón himself seems to be in decent form of late, scoring two goals so far this season. With the acquisition of Nacer Chadli, who will no doubt create a number of chances for the Venezuelan, I would expect his tally to rise.

Chadli is listed as a doubt for this weeks game on the FPL site, however speaking to the WBA official site, he said:

“There was no injury. I just had a little bit of cramp. I couldn’t run anymore and we needed a fresh player on the pitch.”

Taking this into account, I would be very surprised to see Chadli miss out on this weekends trip to the Bet365 Stadium to face current Premier League basement boys Stoke City.

The Potters are bang out of form at the moment, and pressure is beginning to build on Mark Hughes. Stoke have conceded 4 goals in 3 separate games so far this season.

With Chadli and Rondón to cope with this weekend, I would be very surprised if West Brom didn’t sneak at least a few goals against a defence that is leaking goals at the moment.

Since the beginning of April, Stoke have conceded 35 goals in the Premier League, a rate of just under 3 goals per match. The injuries to Jack Butland haven’t helped their cause, and they are desperately missing him at the moment.

With Tony Pulis returning to his old team this weekend, current Stoke manager Mark Hughes will be hoping his return is an unsuccessful one and that he can guide Stoke to their first Premier League win of the season.

Stoke are a team that Chadli enjoyed playing against for old team Tottenham Hotspur, scoring twice in 6 appearances against them.

He will be hoping to continue that this weekend. Chadli is currently priced at a bargain £6.4m and is in just 1.1% of teams.

Those managers who had him in their team last weekend will have been rubbing their hands at his points tally, and will have likely soared up their mini league tables.

If you take a punt on him this week, I am very confident you will be doing the same this weekend.
