Jamie Vardy vs Watford (H)
We begin in a familiar place, Jamie Vardy, the man just can not stop scoring – create a starting 11 without him at your peril!
The former England International is the must own player at this stage of the season, having scored EIGHT goals and provided three assists during only his last six Premier League outings.
Nailed on to play 90 minutes, on penalty duty and with yet another favourable fixture – what’s not to like?
His form means that fantasy bosses are handing their valuable captaincy armband to Vardy across all platforms, infact @FFPundits_Scott is so confident in the Leicester City striker – he’s Triple Captaining him this week over on FPL.
His form has taken him to a tally of thirteen goals for the season, 3 more than his closest rivals for the 2019/20 Golden Boot – Tammy Abraham and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are currently both sat on 10 goals each.
Manager-less after Quique Sánchez Flores was given his marching orders following the 2-1 defeat to Southampton on Saturday, as well as defensive injuries to contend with – Watford (currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table) look to be there for the taking on Wednesday evening.
Dele Alli vs. Manchester United (A)
Dele Alli, missing in action for the first quarter of this season as well as most of last season – but a new manager can bring out the best in players, especially when that manager is Jose Mourinho.
Alli has started all games for Spurs under Mourinho as a number 10, but to be honest he’s playing more as a striker alongside Harry Kane that he is a support role.
To select Alli last week was more of a punt, he was a ‘let’s wait and see’ before we throw him into our Starting 11 sides – well those of you who backed Alli during Gameweek 14 were rewarded with two goals vs Bournemouth.
If you climbed on-board early last week, well done – Alli is now the player everyone wants to own!
Manchester United at Old Trafford is (unfortunately, in my opinion) no longer something to be afraid of, for Spurs players or for Starting 11 bosses creating their lineups.
United have conceded five times during their last two league games, drawing in both instances with Sheffield United and Aston Villa respectively – you have to wonder whether Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s time is almost up, especially with Mauricio Pochettino now available.
This is the perfect time to play Manchester United and Jose Mourinho will be out for revenge after being sacked by the Red Devils midway through last season, he knows how to beat this Manchester United team and I am confident he will.
Christian Pulisic vs. Aston Villa (H)
Pulisic had a slow start to his Chelsea career, a couple of assists early on but then missed three games and returned to the side as a substitute.
It was Gameweek 10 against Burnley when the American International finally burst onto the Premier League scene, scoring a hatrick – followed by goals in his next two games against Watford and Crystal Palace.
He failed to find the back of the net during his next two games however continues to look dangerous and the midfielder most likely to provide attacking returns compared to Mason Mount, Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
What excited me most this week about Pulisic was Frank Lampard’s comments that Pulisic has all the attributes to play as a striker – as soon as a player is potentially playing out of position, Fantasy Bosses ears prick up.
What this really tells us is that Lampard doesn’t trust Michy Batshuayi or Olivier Giroud, rather than that he thinks Pulisic is a natural striker – but IF Tammy Abraham isn’t fit for Wednesday’s tie vs Aston Villa, then this could be a unique moment to own him.
