Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to wear the captains armband in Gameweek 8

Good day Fantasy Premier League bosses and welcome to our Pundits’ Staff Team for Gameweek 8.

We were really happy with our transfer for Gameweek 7, as Aurier came in to our squad off the back of some positive performances and upcoming fixtures looked favourable.

But, of course, FPL doesn’t always work that way and now we have a red card and one-match suspension to deal with for Tottenham defender.

Our initial reaction was to cut our losses and transfer him out – however, after working through alternatives for Aurier for Gameweek 8, we have decided he can spend Gameweek 8 on the bench, with John Lundstram stepping in for Sheffield United’s game against Watford.

Kevin De Bruyne, who missed Manchester City’s midweek Champions League win over Dinamo Zagreb, was ruled out of Gameweek 8’s clash with Wolves by Pep Guardiola.

His injury is believed to be minor, but for precautionary purposes, the City boss has confined that his star midfielder will miss this weekend’s action but will be back after the international break.

We have owned KDB since Gameweek 1 and are keen to hold on to the transfer value he has built up over the season so far.

We were tempted to swap him for Mahrez this week, but that may be a little short sighted and we would want Kevin back for Gameweek 9 anyway, so, decided to be sensible with this one and save both the transfer and his value.

With Aurier suspended and KDB out through injury, this leaves us thin on the ground – however, Todd Cantwell has a favourable fixture against Aston Villa and Norwich have a strong record at home this season.

As for our captain? Well, when we played our Wildcarded back in Gameweek 6, it was all about owning Aubameyang.

His recent form and Gameweek 9 fixture makes him an easy choice for the armband this week – especially as we own neither Salah or Sterling as premium captaincy alternatives.

Looking forward, we feel that two free transfers for over the International Break will help us tidy up any injuries and weak-spots and puts us in a strong position for Gameweek 9.

Any last-minute changes to our squad will be posted on Twitter @FFPundits, but the team you see below is likely to be locked in now for Gameweek 8.

As always, from all of us here at Fantasy Football Pundits, we wish you all the very best of luck for the weekend’s action and may your arrows be green.
