Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling proving too hot to ignore ahead of Manchester derby clash with United in Gameweek 12
Welcome to another instalment of the FPL Watchlist, where we take a look at three players who impressed over the weekend and will be options to transfer in over the coming weeks for both @FFPundits and @_FPLtips.
Please note that all player prices and ownership percentages were correct at the time of writing and publishing this article – we will, however, make every effort to update this twice daily.
As always ladies and gents, we have provided you with a video version of this article, which you can find above.

Alvaro Morata – £8.7m | 2.5% owned
After a tough start to the season, which saw him score just 1 goal in his first 6 appearances, Alvaro Morata now has 4 goals in the last 4 Gameweeks, following a brace against Crystal Palace at the weekend.
His total of 4 shots inside the box in Gameweek 11 was on par with the likes of Wilson and Richarlison; only Harry Kane took more – with 5.
Over the last 3 Gameweeks, 7 shots on target by the Chelsea forward is joint top amongst all players; level with Aguero, Martial and Arnautovic.
Similarly, his 10 shots inside the box in that time can only be matched by Sergio Aguero and Callum Wilson, with no player taking more than the trio.
Chelsea have some promising long-term fixtures, only facing Spurs and Man City from the top 6 over the next 11 matches.
Matt Doherty – £4.9m | 16.3% owned
It was just a 1 point return for Matt Doherty during the 3-2 defeat to Spurs but Wolves had a goal wrongly ruled out for offside, which was set up by the right wing-back.
His attacking potential is further underlined by his tally of 3 attempted assists during the game; only Digne and Holebas created more chances amongst defenders in Gameweek 11 – with 4.
Over the last 3 Gameweeks, Doherty’s total of 5 attempted assists is on par with Alonso, Mendy and Trippier; only Digne has provided more amongst defenders – with 8.
During the same period, the 26-year-old’s totals of 7 goal attempts, with 3 on target, rank top amongst defenders, beating David Luiz and Balbuena – who’ve taken 6 shots a piece.
Wolves appear to have lost some of their defensive stability in recent weeks, having conceded in each of their last 3 matches.
But they’ve only conceded 17 shots inside the box during that period, which is on par with Liverpool; only Man City (15), Everton (15) and Chelsea (14) have allowed fewer in that time.
With Arsenal away next, there’s probably no need to rush in for Doherty, for those of us who don’t yet own him, but upcoming fixtures against Huddersfield and Cardiff could provide an ideal time to jump on board.
Raheem Sterling – £11.1m | 7.8% owned
Raheem Sterling was directly involved in 4 of Man City’s 6 goals during the 6-1 thrashing of Southampton, scoring twice and providing 2 assists.
The 23-year-old produced a total of 3 attempted assists in Gameweek 11 and his tally of 3 shots on target was beaten by only Felipe Anderson (4) amongst midfielders.
He’s now provided 11 FPL goal involvements this season (6 goals, 5 assists) and his average of 8.6 points per game is top amongst all players, beating Hazard – with 7.9, Aguero – with 6.6 and Alonso – with 7.1.
Amongst midfielders, Sterling’s total of 14 shots on target this season can be beaten by only Salah – with 17 and Pogba – with 20. And that’s despite the Man City midfielder missing 2 games through rotation.
Man City’s next 9 fixtures look favourable from an attacking perspective, facing only Chelsea from the current top 5 teams. They host Bournemouth, Everton and Crystal Palace in that time.
