Mohamed Salah – £13.3m | 42.1% owned
Fixtures: bha, CRY, LEI, whu, BOU
After just over half of the season, it’s Mohamed Salah who leads the way for total FPL points (151) and no player has provided more points per game than the Egypt international’s 7.2.
Over the last 6 Gameweeks, no midfielder has taken more than Salah’s 10 efforts on target or been involved in more than his 7 big chances and his total of 13 attempted assists is only narrowly behind Sterling (14) and Hazard (15).
Only Heung-Min Son (11 to 9) has been directly involved in more goals during this period amongst midfielders, and according to reputable in-play football betting apps, he’s still the 3/1 second favourite to win this seasons Golden Boot award – with Harry Kane the 9/4 favourite.
Jürgen Klopp’s side suffered their first defeat of the season to Man City last Gameweek but remain 4 points clear at the top of the table, having scored 12 goals across the last 4 Gameweeks; only Man Utd (14) and Spurs (15) have managed more.
The Reds have a fairly kind schedule for the remainder of the season, facing just one ‘top six’ side in their next 10 matches, while Crystal Palace, Leicester and Bournemouth travel to Anfield in the next 5 Gameweeks.
Marcus Rashford – £7.3m | 20.7% owned
Fixtures: tot, BHA, BUR, lei, ful
Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s appointment at Manchester United has seen a return to a more attack-minded style of play, with Marcus Rashford leading the line and contributing 3 goals and 2 assists across the last 4 league matches.
No forward has taken more total shots (25) or efforts on target than the Englishmen (15), during the last 6 Gameweeks, while only Barnes (7) and Aubameyang (8) have been involved in more than Rashford’s 5 big chances.
The 21-year-old also ranks 1st amongst forwards for chance creation over this period, with his tally of 9 attempted assists.
Man Utd have won each of the their last 4 games convincingly; only Spurs (15) have scored more than their 14 goals, while only Liverpool have matched their total of 16 big chances and no team have taken more shots on target (34).
They’ll go into Gameweek 22 having had a week of warm-weather training in Dubai, while their opponents Spurs face a midweek EFL Cup match with Chelsea.
Brighton and Burnley are the next teams to visit Old Trafford, before away trips to Leicester and Fulham for Solskjær’s side.
Christian Eriksen – £9.3m | 6.2% owned
Fixtures: MUN, ful, WAT, NEW, LEI
Christian Eriksen has been directly involved in 11 goals from 13 starts this season, with 5 of those contributions coming in the last 5 Gameweeks.
With Heung-Min Son set to leave for the Asian Cup after Gameweek 22, can the Denmark international provide an alternative amongst the Spurs midfield, for the favourable upcoming fixtures?
No Spurs player has provided more than Eriksen’s 32 attempted assists this season, beating Trippier – with 24 and Kane – with 20, while only Son has matched his total of 7 assists.
Amongst midfielders, only Salah – with 8, and Fraser, Sané, Sterling and Hazard – with 9, have registered more assists this season.
Spurs have been in fine goal-scoring form of late, finding the back of the net 15 times in the last 4 Gameweeks; more than any other team. Only Liverpool (28) and Man Utd (34) have produced more shots on target (22) during the same period.
Pochettino’s side are at home for 4 of the next 5 league matches, welcoming Watford, Newcastle and Leicester to Wembley in 3 consecutive Gameweeks, after the trip to Fulham in Gameweek 23.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – £5.2m | 20.9% owned
Fixtures: bha, CRY, LEI, whu, BOU
Alexander-Arnold has now earned starts in each of the last 3 league matches, following his recovery from a foot injury.
Priced at just £5.2m, the right-back offers a significant saving on Robertson and has contributed to just one fewer goal than the Scotland international this season (4 to 5), with 1 goal and 3 assists to his name.
No side have kept more clean sheets than Liverpool this season (12) and that trend has continued over the last 4 Gameweeks, where the Reds have kept 2 clean sheets, conceding only to Arsenal and Man City.
They’ve conceded just 3 goals in 14 matches against teams outside of the ‘top six’ this season.
Jürgen Klopp’s side have just 3 ‘top six’ sides left to face over their 17 remaining league games this season, with a trip to Old Trafford awaiting them in Gameweek 27.
Before then though, Crystal Palace, Leicester and Bournemouth visit Anfield, amongst away ties with Brighton and West Ham for the Reds.
