THE FPL WATCHLIST: Gameweek 7 | Time to invest in Harry Kane?

9:29am Sep 25 2018

Tottenham’s Harry Kane is back on our FPL radar, with three attractive upcoming fixtures on the horizon

Welcome back our Fantasy Premier League Watchlist, in association with @_FPLTips, where we’ll once again be taking a look at three players who impressed us over the earlier Gameweek.

The aim of the article and video is not to give you ‘tips’, as there’s a strong chance the three players we include in this article each week deliver decent FPL returns.

Instead, we’ll name 3 players which impressed, and give our opinion on whether we’re considering them ourselves for the upcoming Gameweek.

As always ladies and gents, we have provided you with a video version of this article, which you can find above.

Gudmundsson – £5.9m | 0.9% owned

FPL Gameweek 7 - Gudmundsson

After suffering a hamstring injury against Fulham in Gameweek 3, Gudmundsson only returned to action in Gameweek 5 and played a key role in the 4-0 win over Bournemouth this weekend, providing 2 assists.

Burnley’s creative midfielder also fired 2 goal attempts against the Cherries, with 1 hitting the target and took all 3 of his team’s corners during the game.

No teammate has taken more than Gudmundsson’s 9 goal attempts this season, while his 3 shots on target can be beaten by only Ashley Barnes – with 4.

The 27-year-old’s tally of 6 attempted assists this season is also top amongst Burnley players; with 2 of those resulting in big chances created.

With games against Cardiff and Huddersfield in his next 2 fixtures, could Gudmundsson be someone to rival Ryan Fraser, with his similar £5.9m price tag?

Richarlison – £6.6m | 18.4% owned

FPL Gameweek 7 - Richarlison

Richarlison returned from suspension to face Arsenal in Gameweek 6 and looked the most threatening player for Everton, taking 3 shots and forcing saves from Petr Cech on 2 occasions.

Amongst midfielders, only Mahrez and Knockaert took more shots on target in Gameweek 6 – with 3.

The Brazilian is averaging 1.3 shots on target per game this season, which ranks 6th best amongst midfielders; behind the likes of Sterling, Pogba and Mané, with Mo Salah top of the list, on 1.7 per game.

Richarlison’s average of 0.8 FPL involvements per game is on par with Sterling and Salah; beaten by only Lamela (1.0) and Hazard (1.2) amongst midfielders.

Everton have some favourable fixtures to come, with Man Utd and Chelsea being the only top 6 sides they’ll face between now and Gameweek 13. That run includes home fixtures against Fulham, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Cardiff.

Harry Kane – £12.4m | 25.3% owned

Finally today, we move on to Harry Kane, who found his 3rd goal of the season against Brighton in Gameweek 6, converting comfortably from the penalty spot.

The England captain hasn’t looked his best in the opening weeks of the season, having managed just 4 shots on target over his first 5 matches.

But he equalled that tally in a single game against Brighton, taking more efforts on target than any other player in Gameweek 6 (4), beating Vardy and Aguero – with 3.

The Spurs forward registered 2 ‘big chances’ this weekend; matched by only Vardy, Andre Gray and Mitrovic, with no player managing more.

Having checked OLBG.com’s football tips ahead of Gameweek 7, big things are expected of the Spurs front man away at Huddersfield – is a purple patch of form imminent?

He looks to be finding his rhythm just before two of the most favourable fixtures on offer right now, with Pochettino’s side travelling to Huddersfield next, before welcoming Cardiff to Wembley for Gameweek 8, where Kane looks to be the stand-out captain choice, on paper.

Huddersfield and Cardiff have the worst defensive records in the Premier League this season at present, each conceding a league-high tally of 14 goals.
