Liverpool’s Mo Salah has fallen out of favour ahead of Gameweek 3 clash with Arsenal

Welcome back to the ‘FPL Captaincy Picks’ series, where we’ll be discussing the top 3 Fantasy Premier League captain options for the Gameweek ahead, as voted for by the FPL community over on our Twitter Captains Poll.
As always, we have provided you with a video version of this article, for those of you who prefer to sit back and listen.
Either way, we hope you enjoy our Gameweek 3 episode of FPL Captaincy Picks and Tips by FFPundits and FPLTips.
Please note that all player prices and ownership percentages were correct at the time of writing and publishing.
3. Mohamed Salah – Liverpool
vs. Arsenal | £12.5m | 40.6% owned

Mo Salah drops down to third place, with around 8% of the vote, following an unsuccessful outing against Southampton in Gameweek 2.
The 3 big chances created by Liverpool during the match were split evenly amongst the front 3, but the Egyptian was unable to convert.
Last season, the 27-year-old averaged just 4.1 points per game against the ‘top six’ but this increased to 6.0 PPG during home matches against those sides.
Liverpool have fired 13 shots on target in the opening 2 Gameweeks; a tally that can only be bettered by Man City (19).
They face an Arsenal side that conceded 35 goals on the road last season, with only 4 teams faring worse.
In the previous two seasons, this fixture has seen Liverpool score 9 goals and concede just once, with 5-1 and 4-0 scorelines.
2. Harry Kane – Spurs
vs. Newcaste (H) | £11.0m | 30.9% owned

Harry Kane has received around 39% of the vote, seeing him narrowly miss out on 1st place.
The Englishman was kept at bay by a resilient Man City defence in Gameweek 2 who, despite shipping two goals, allowed Spurs just 3 attempts and didn’t concede a single big chance.
But a home fixture against Newcastle should offer plenty more opportunities for the forward; he averaged 7.5 points per game during matches against the ‘bottom eight’ teams last season.
9 goal attempts by Kane over the first 2 Gameweeks can only be bettered Pukki and Sterling (each 10), while his total of 6 efforts from inside the box ranks joint-4th in the league.
Only Arsenal (13) and Spurs (22) conceded more shots inside the box than Newcastle (12) in Gameweek 2, while only Burnley (9) and Spurs (10) faced more efforts on target than the Magpies (9).
1. Raheem Sterling – Man City
vs. Bournemouth (A) | £12.2m | 42.2% owned

With 49% of the vote, Raheem Sterling just edges 1st place, ahead of Man City’s visit to Bournemouth in Gameweek 3.
4 goals in the first 2 matches have seen the England midfielder rank top for FPL points, while his underlying numbers offer plenty of reassurance.
Only Pukki has matched Sterling’s tally of 10 shots inside the box, while his total of 6 efforts on target ranks joint-2nd in the league; matched by Ashley Barnes and only bettered by Pukki (7).
5 big chances by the 24-year-old is at least 2 more than any other player has managed so far this season.
Unsurprisingly, Man City rank top for goals scored (7), big chances (9) and goal attempts (44) across the first 2 Gameweeks.
Bournemouth shipped 70 goals last season, with only Huddersfield (76) and Fulham (81) faring worse.
The Cherries have conceded 6 big chances so far this season, with West Ham (10) the only side to allow opponents more.
