Under The Radar - FPL Gameweek 38

Fantasy Premier League players which may have slipped Under The Radar ahead of FPL Gameweek 38

After an amazing Double Gameweek 37 for most FPL managers, we look ahead with hope and ambition for Gameweek 38, in what appears to be the most unpredictable round of fixtures we’ve seen this season, due to likely rotation for certain clubs.

This week, and for the very last time this season, I will give you 5 players that I believe could have a huge impact on your Gameweek 38 scores, and hopefully give you food for thought when making your FPL transfers ahead of Sunday’s 14:00pm deadline.

This week I have decided to focus on players with something to play for and will only make selections with a 5% TSB (Teams Selected By) or less.

Kurt Zouma – Chelsea

  • £5.3m
  • 0.3%
  • 8
  • Sunderland (H)

With Chelsea likely to rest the majority of their key players ahead of their FA Cup final with Arsenal, the likes of Zouma and Aké look set to replace Alonso and Cahill in the heart of Conte’s defence – with John Terry also set to make his farewell appearance in front of the Stamford Bridge faithful.

With 90 minutes on the board and an 8-point-haul in his Gameweek 37 fixture against Watford, Zouma put in a decent performance and has certainly given Conte something to think about when selecting his best starting XI for the FA Cup Final.

David Moyes’ Sunderland team are down and out of the Premier League and have very little to play for on the final day of the season. Playing away from home, Sunderland have not kept a clean sheet since Gameweek 24 and their fortunes don’t look set to change this weekend.

A clean-sheet and possible attacking returns from a set-piece could be on the cards for Zouma, so if you’re looking for a cheeky differential to help get you over the line, the Chelsea centre-back could be a solid selection.

Georginio Wijnaldum – Liverpool

  • £7.5m
  • 1.6%
  • 11
  • Middlesbrough (H)

A player that last season almost single-handedly kept Newcastle in the league – Georginio is finally starting to show that form when Liverpool need him most and could be Liverpool’s key-player to help secure Champions League football when they host Middlesbrough on Sunday afternoon.

Bagging two assists and two bonus points against West Ham in Gameweek 37, his 1.6% ownership offers those FPL managers looking to take a punt this week an extremely and quite exciting, differential.

At £7.5m, he offers great value for those FPL bosses looking to ditch the likes of Firmino, Pedro and Sterling ahead of Gameweek 38, as we all strive for those extra last-minute points to help improve our overall ranks.

Olivier Giroud – Arsenal

  • £8.1m
  • 4.2%
  • 18
  • Everton (H)

Two goals, one assist and three bonus points for Giroud in Double Gameweek 37 led to an impressive 18-point-haul for the Frenchman, but many FPL bosses still remain sceptical about his place in Wenger’s starting XI.

I personally think Wenger will stick with his forward-line setup, with Giroud up top and Sanchez and Ozil sat in behind for support – making Giroud an extremely tempting differential for the final Gameweek of the season.

Owned by just 4.1% of FPL bosses and a respectable, yet affordable price-tag of just £8.1m, Giroud offers those managers looking for the ultimate shrewd move this weekend and could be the perfect captaincy differential.

Ben Chillwell – Leicester City

  • £4.3m
  • 0.2%
  • 6
  • Bournemouth (H)

When you look back at the Leicester defence of last season, most of you will remember the impressive returns from Morgan, Huth and Fuchs – but not Benjamin Chillwell…

However, with Morgan and Huth both out with injuries and Fuchs playing at centre back, Ben Chillwell looks nailed-on to play 90 minutes again in Gameweek 38 and is owned by only 0.2% of FPL bosses, making him a HUGE differential.

Leicester’s opponents, Bournmemouth, have lost 10 games away from home this season and have nothing left to play for, whilst sitting pretty in 10th place, so I can only see one result for this fixture and that’s a comfortable home win at the King Power with a strong change of a goal-to-nothing scoreline.

Sam Vokes – Burnley

  • £5.7m
  • 2.7%
  • 6
  • West Ham (H)

A player that’s been a solid  and consistent pick all season for a very impressive Burnley side, Vokes is showing the consistency fantasy managers will be looking for when thinking ahead to next season.

With three goals and 3 bonus points in his last two gameweek’s, Vokes comes up against a West Ham team that are fresh off the back of a 0-4 thrashing at Anfield in Gameweek 37.

At just 4.4m and a 1.3%TSB, Sam Vokes offers those FPL bosses who are looking for a captaincy shrewd move or Gameweek 38, the perfect opportunity to grab some differential points on Sunday.
