Who will win the Premier League’s Golden Boot award for the 2019/20 season?

As we go strong into 2020 it’s fair to say that the Premier League title race is as good as over already. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are dominating the scene, galloping bravely towards what would be their first league title in the last 30 years.

The Reds’ dominant run did little to take away the allure of the current campaign though, but from a punter’s point of view, betting opportunities are best looked elsewhere.

Therefore, we bring you the next big thing on the Premier League betting scene. Today, we take a look at who is most likely to finish as the EPL top scorer this season.

With the EPL Golden Boot up for grabs, it will be extremely interesting to see who comes out on top in May.

The bookmakers have already splashed some great betting odds and BestBet is the place to go if you’re looking to get high-value offers for this particular market.

Eclipsing the 2018/19 Already

The last season brought no less than three winners of the Premier League Golden Boot race. Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all finished on 22 goals, thus sharing the coveted award.

Manchester City superstar Sergio Aguero came in behind the trio with 21, while Jamie Vardy bagged 18. Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane were next with 17 goals to their name.

And as we draft this article early in February, the race for the Premier League golden boot is looking more interesting than the last term.

The England international Jamie Vardy is flourishing under the watchful eye of former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.

With 17 goals in the bag already, the Leicester striker leads the pack in front of Sergio Aguero (16) and the likes of Mohamed Salah, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Marcus Rashford and Danny Ings all on 14.

Vardy and Ings might be the odd ones out on the 2019/20 list if we would to take their last season’s numbers into account.

The Foxes star is one goal shy from equaling his 2018/19 record of 18 goals whereas the Saints forward has already doubled the last year’s numbers.

How Far Can They Go?

The last campaign’s three winners all finished the season at the 22-mark. With 13 rounds to go in 2019/20, there is plenty of time and motivation to go above the designated mark even though the league’s winner is all but confirmed.

Manchester City and Leicester City are expected to battle it out until the very end for the runners-up position.

The 2015 Golden Boot winner Sergio Aguero has a big point to prove in what’s turning out to be an extremely difficult season for Pep Guardiola’s side.

As for Jamie Vardy, the England international is feeding off the support he’s been getting from the Foxes supporters and will be keen to seal his team’s Champions Place with a bang.

Mohamed Salah might not be experiencing a highly prolific season by his standards, but the Egyptian has plenty of fuel in the tank to catch up on the rest of the pack.

As for Marcus Rashford, the Manchester United star hit the ground running this season but was unfortunate to pick up an injury in January.

The England international will be out for around six to eight weeks and the Golden Boot race might be as good as over for him at this point.

However, he will have Danny Ings to look up to in terms of what a bit of courage, patience and perseverance can do for a player.

Having been widely described as a Liverpool flop, Danny Ings successfully recovered from both injury problems and failed expectations to turn into a proper goal-scoring machine in 2019/20.

His goal-banging run has been a joy to watch, just like the rest of the Golden Boot race which promises to be a hugely entertaining affair until the very end.
