Cheap FPL assets from Bournemouth and West Ham dominate the fantasy football transfer market ahead of Gameweek 12 schedule
Here we are again Fantasy Premier League football bosses – the final Gameweek before yet another international break, so there’s never been a better time to boost those scores and keep your arrows green.
As always, we’re running the rule over the main transfer activity of the week so far. This week, there’s particular focus on the striking department, with three of the four players featured being forwards.
So, here are my thoughts on what FPL bosses have been up to ahead of Gameweek 12. As always, I wish all of you the very best of luck.
Marko Arnautović – £7.1m | 252K+ transfers IN
Marko Arnautović took his tally for the season to five in the Gameweek 11 win over Burnley, in a game which also saw the Austrian provide an assist.
Many FPL bosses are clearly sensing a repeat performance in Gameweek 12, as Manuel Pellegrini’s side travel to face strugglers Huddersfield – with almost 252,000 having taken a punt on the former Stoke man at the time of writing.
At a modest fee of £7.1m, West Ham’s talisman is definitely a worthy selection, particularly with other forwards in the same price bracket misfiring – one of which we’ll get onto in a moment.
Callum Wilson – £6.7m – 290K+ transfers IN
Callum Wilson has been one of the stars of the season so far, and is proving to be an FPL must-have – with four goals in his last four. At just £6.7m, can anyone really justify ignoring the Premier League’s most in-form striker?
Over a third of FPL bosses already own the Bournemouth forward, and that level of ownership has swelled by a further 290,000 at the time of writing, ahead of the Cherries’ Gameweek 12 trip to Newcastle – making him the most transferred IN player so far this week.
Despite the Gameweek 11 defeat against Manchester United, Eddie Howe’s side remain in great form, so there’s every chance Wilson’s hot streak will continue.
Who’s NOT? (hot)
James Maddison – £6.9m – 378k+ transfers OUT
With Leicester about to play their first home fixture since the tragic passing of their chairman, it’s anyone’s guess how the occasion will affect the Foxes players.
That might go some way to explaining why, despite a decent looking fixture against Burnley to come, over 378,000 FPL bosses have ditched James Maddison at the time of writing. He’s also gone four Gameweeks without providing any notable returns.
Additionally, with other options within the same price range, such as Richarlison, Ross Barkley, and Ryan Fraser in such great form, it’s easy to see why FPL bosses are in no mood to wait around.
UPDATE: Since writing and publishing this article, Leicester City have confirmed that both Harry Maguire and James Maddison will NOT feature in Gameweek 12 due to injury. Both players are expected to return after the international break.
Aleksandar Mitrović – £6.7m – 375K+ transfers OUT
Much of what’s been said about James Maddison also applies to Aleksandar Mitrović. The Serb has gone completely off the boil of late – at least in terms of his FPL points output.
His latest blank against Huddersfield in Gameweek 11 was quite clearly the final straw for many FPL bosses, with over 375,000 giving up on the former Newcastle man so far this week – making him by far and away the most transferred OUT player ahead of Gameweek 12.
What’s more, Fulham face an incredibly tough-looking trip to Anfield next, and Liverpool have conceded just once at home all season – so it’s not looking great for the dwindling number of Mitrović owners.
