Who’s HOT & Who’s NOT - FPL Gameweek 8: Bye Bye Salah?

Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Sadio Mané are being sold in their droves ahead of Gameweek 8 clash with Manchester City
There is a slight element of predictability about the major FPL transfer activity ahead of Gameweek 8, with two of the four players featured in this week’s article being the subject of major movement for the third week on the bounce.
Meanwhile, FPL bosses have taken a shine to a summer arrival who has caught the eye in the opening seven Gameweeks – but a livewire forward who is without a goal in three makes way.
So, without further ado, here are my thoughts on all of that ahead of Gameweek 8. As always, I wish all of you the very best of luck.
Eden Hazard – 305,000+ transfers IN
Along with Sergio Aguero, Eden Hazard is the only premium pick who is currently doing the business on a consistent basis, providing worthwhile returns for his growing number of owners.
At the time of writing, an additional 305,000+ FPL bosses have drafted in the Belgian ahead of Chelsea’s Gameweek 8 trip to Southampton – and with six goals in his last five, it’s easy to see why.
With a home fixture against an out-of-sorts Manchester United to follow in Gameweek 9, there’s every incentive to make your move now and reap the benefits of his dazzling form.
Hazard also features in our top 5 Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks for Gameweek 8, which is well worth a read before Friday’s 7pm deadline.
James Maddison – 205,000+ transfers IN
At the time of writing, a further 205,000 FPL bosses have snapped up James Maddison ahead of Leicester’s Gameweek 8 showdown with Everton at the King Power – making him the second most transferred IN player so far this week.
Maddison has provided three goals and two assists in his opening seven Premier League appearances – an outstanding return from the England under-21 midfielder.
Despite a couple of price rises, the former Norwich man can currently be drafted in for just £6.9m, making him one of the best midfield options available at the moment, pound for pound. Tempted? You should be!
Who’s NOT? (hot)
Mo Salah – 235,000+ transfers OUT
Let’s face it, anyone who was expecting a repeat of Mo Salah’s record-breaking FPL points return of last season was always going to end up disappointed, weren’t they?
The Egyptian has been among the most transferred OUT players for a number of Gameweeks now, but is still owned by well over a third of FPL bosses – such was his impact last season.
That said, £12.9m for a player with just one goal and no assists in four simply isn’t value for money, and so I have to agree with the call – made by over 235,000 FPL bosses at the time of writing – to ditch the former Roma man.
Clearly, the chance to swap Salah for Hazard and recapture £1.8m in the process is too good to turn down.
Sadio Mané – 131,000+ transfers OUT
Meanwhile, Sadio Mane – another Liverpool hero of recent times – is also struggling to hit the personal heights he achieved last season.
While Liverpool remain unbeaten, having dropped their first points of the season in the Gameweek 7 draw at Stamford Bridge, Salah and Mane have just two goals in eight Premier League appearances between them.
Again, these mediocre returns are not good enough for players in and around the £10m mark – as Mane is – and so well over 131,000 FPL bosses have already decided that enough is enough ahead of Liverpool’s Gameweek 8 clash with table-toppers Manchester City.
